alrighty, yesterday i got me a 03 gt mustang, everything is power, i also got a 5 speed. i love the way it handles and runs. but this car is all stock, i want to make it sound like it should, whats the best sounding exhaust system that i could put on it. i want that agressive mustang sound. i have been looking in summit racing to get a new throttle body and a cold air intake. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd personally say BBK shorties, a x,y, or h-pipe, and maybe some Flowmaster Super 40s would give it a pretty good growl. I really don't know much about how to make the 4.6 exhaust sound louder.
My advice is to maybe pick up an issue of 5.0 & SF magazine. They have every muffler, header, x-pipe, h-pipe, y-pipe, and exhaust set up you can think of in there.

well i saw an air intake that sits on top of the intake manifold thats like a shaker, but the factory hood sets over top of it. i think it was on a roush though. but yeah im gonna get the super 40's. that x pipe isnt it like true dual exhaust?

1.gears 3.73
2.exhaust
3 CAI
4. pullies
5. aluminum driveshaft
6. rims and tires (nitto 55 drag radials)
7. Mass Air Sensor
8. Nitrous -100shot
9. Chip -diablo is my prefrence retard the timing for nos and run cooler plugs

Speaking of Roush they have a good side pipe exhaust system. The exhaust comes out right in front of the back tire. It sounds really, really good and adds some good horsepower and torque numbers.

I love the way that Borla exhaust sounds on modular motors. Flowmaster dont really sound that good, IMO.

id like to have that roush body kit with the side pipe exhaust. but i will more than likley go for the headers and x pipe and the super 40's.

I love the sound of my super 40's. I think Borla is way overpriced, sounds good but overpriced.

i got the bbk headers, x pipe and flomaster 40's series saturday. this car really perked up afterwards, and sounds mean. i had the windows tinted thismorning and i got some headlight and tail light covers.

What are your plans now?
I'd suggest putting some 3.73 gears in the rear. That'd really stretch the legs on that thing.

Also, when you get the Mustang modded up pretty good you need to run it with that RS of yours and tell us how it turns out.

speed up your comp. ratio, thats what makes a V8 have that pulse...a 10:1 is pretty good becaues remember not only the exhaust makes the sound of the car...plenty of other stuff, just dont advance it so much that your car won't run on pump gas!

Uh how do you speed up comression? RPM? What are you trying to say? Do you realize what all is involved in raising your compression ratio? There is enough work involded in decking heads for compression and flatness, do you really think he is gonna want to pull the motor just for some new slugs? I doubt it. Also raising your compression is not gonna make that much difference. going from 8.0:1 to 12.5:1 is 1 thing but going from probably around 9:1 up to 10:1 is pointless unless you are rebuilding for performance. Why go through the trouble when you can add power to a 4.6 just by changing the followers? There are much better ways to get power and sound out of "a V8" than upping the cr. Thanx for trying but that statement was just pointless, its not going to happen. If he wants power then he is heading in the right direction. Exhaust, gears, fuel/air, maybe i/h/c, possibly bootle or boost...all these things much easier, less time consuming, and more efficient than raising compression.

im not actually looking to make it the fastest thing on the block. i just want a few mods that improve throttle response, and sound. so im looking for a good throttle body and a cold air intake....i might be done with the mods, cause i really bought the car to have a kick ass travel car. i go to cincinatti and louisville 3 or 4 times a year, i have done it in the tacoma almost every time and its uncomfortable. so i was thinking and didnt want to make the mustang to were i couldnt afford to drive it.....if you know what i mean.

Well throttle body and upper intake would be C&L or Accufab.

Cold air intake= over rated, just get a K & N filter. if you do get a cold air intake, make sure it's made from plastic, not metal. Metal heatsoaks, plastic does not.

Sound....two option's go to any exhaust shop and have them weld in a couple of mufflers, or do it my way and order a cat back kit from Magnaflow, Borla, Bassani, SLP etc etc... Exhaust shops don't mandrel bend the pipes so normally you will not gain anything but sound. Cat back kits are typically mandrel bent, so your getting the full flow of exhaust.

You might also consider getting a hand held tuner, that will allow you to adjust your fuel and throttle response as well as find any computer codes that pop up.

i had the x-pipe and headers plus the 40 series put on. it improved the sound big time. how much do the regular k&n filters cost?

You can get a K&N from $40 to $60 depending on the place you go.
