Popping in High RPMs

my friends 2.0L 5spd
as stated, the car starts popping at 4000rpms (revving or driving). ive tried everything... i JUST replaced the crank sensor AGAIN and ive cleaned the contacts where the crank and sensor meet. so far ive done everything i know how to do. the cam sensor has been changed also, along with a new cam and head. it still thru P1391.
the head is new and so are all the parts on it
just so u guys know, i checked to see if it was only under load when it pops and the test came out negative... i had the ebrake on as i let the clutch out and gave it some gas and everything was good.
the popping immediately stops for a period of time when the crank sensor is wiped clean of motor oil...
