I have been having some problems with my 4x4 as of late and the check 4 wheel drive light keeps coming on. I have replaced the switch in the dash and this has not helped yet either. I have heard that the solenoids on these trucks go out frequently and are easy to replace?? I have not done this yet...so the qustion I have, is it an easy task or should it go to a dealer to take care of the problem? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

start simple. trace all the wiring for the 4x4 at the trany and on the firewall check all the connectors for crosion. inspect the wires for brakes.
this problem is why i whent with a manule shift. less to mess up.

ok, I put a new solenoid and it still is giving me troubles. It now seems as if it will not quite get out of 4x4 in full. When I am driving in 2 hi it makes a lot of noise and feels like it is trying to get into 4 wheel drive. I have replaced the dash switch, solenoid, and I am now at a loss...any ideas???
