I need some advice on the next upgrade to my car. I have an 89 Civic DX (1.5L SOHC) and through this forum have done alot of things to it but I am limited on parts due to being stationed in Germany. I have been relying on bolt on stuff and I dont know what to get next. I know most of you will say motor change, and that will be handled when I return to the states, but right now I can only work with what I got unless the is a miracle that hits one of these junkyards around here. Here is what I have so far....
1. K&N "Cold air Intake".
2. Catback 3" exhaust
3. MSD Ignition
4. Stage 2 Clutch

Now there are many other things like Eibach suspension, anti sways etc. But I am talking motor, I think my next choice should be a cam, anyone have any expierience with these motors and response to a cam? What durations should I get to keep streetability? I also read in super street that there was something for the fuel that would give a 2% increase in HP/TQ, cannot find the magazine. I also have the MPFI intake, injectors and such from a blown motor, but am looking for a wiring harness and ECU for it before I can do that swap, I know that is going to be a good upgrade, but any other tips would be great, even the smallest thing. The car is great, and sees 120 MPH everyday on the AUTOBAHN and does not miss a beat, but would like to make it FASTER!!! Thanks

First of all a 3" cat back is HUGE :nono: for a 1.5 sohc major loss of torque and power there. Second when you got your clutch your should have gotten a lighter flywheel to, less rotating mass, means more power for you, but a lighter flywheel would give you a better throttle response as well as quicker acceleration. Third if you want a cam I don't know if a lot of manufacturers make cams for your engine but if you get really aggressive cams you would or it is recommened that your entire valve train be upgraded also so you'll prop get stuck with a stage 1 cam so I don't know if it'll be worth the money, just alittle over stock. Like you said I would recommend a engine swap to maybe just a DOHC ZC or a B16a SIR1, way more potential. But then again these are just my :2cents: so do whatever you want, oh and if you drive on the autobahn a lot you should get a dry nitrious set up best bang for bucks. :evillol: haha and a short throw shifter would be good for quick precise shifting.

I got the short throw along with alot more "basic" mods (no autozone wings on my car), but I cannot get nitrious shipped to my army box, THAT SUCKS! Not to mention finding parts, or filling bottles etc. I was going to get a lighter flywheel, but after doing ALOT of research and calling the "pros" no one could make up their minds if it was better or not, some said yes, some said no, so a resurface and it was out back on. The Eibach, lowering kit, short throw, sways and 205 50 15 BBS rims and tires, make for excellent road course carving, along with the lightweight makes for an excellent ride.
