I hate timing belts, because once a mechanic at even the dealership opends it up and does the job ,problems happen later on like a little grease was on the fingers that touched the belt.So what can we do? just how long can I ride on my belt that was done right first time at the factory?

pay someone to do it right, not some backyard mechanic. Another solution.

read again, even a dealers mechanic are in a rush on my toyota , they left out 2 timing cover bolts and some candy wrappers in the bottom engine well and put on new regular belts back on the alternator with the old screwdriver trick, force the belt on the pulleys by cranking over the engine a short burst and a month later I needed a new vibration damper and Idler pulley bearing from the new belt being to tight. got any more good Ideas.
