I was informed that the 2.8 in 87 S-10's are different than any other year! I have never heard this before and was wondering if anybody else has heard this ?

I was told that the crank sensor was different and there was some missing bolt holes . I have a motor from a 86 that I want to rebuild and would not like to find out that it won't work after I pour the $ into it.

you were told wrong. they made a change in 85, and the front wheel drive motors are a litle different.
Don't make the same mistake that I did, don't re-build the 2.8L... rebuild a comaro 3.4L v6 they are the same block and a much better motor for a s-10.
you'll need to re-use your oil pan, oil pickup and the flex plate (or flywheel) which you will have to get re-balanced.
plus you will need the comaro's entire serpentine belt system unless yours is the same (the water pump might spin the wrong way otherwise)
otherwise it's a direct bolt in
