ok need some help on this one too. I want to reduce the weight in my car but for every 100 pounds you take out you get a tenth of a second faster on the drag but i heard it messes with the weight ratio. anybody got any answers im a newbie to street racing and also just to throw this in anyone think a 1988 mazda rx-7 with a rotary engine could out beat a 1994 mitsubishi eclipse gs nonturbo 2.0L just wondering cuz my friend just got one. Thanks for anyones help

I had an 87 Rx7 and I have to assume it would easily damage any NT eclipse. But the best thing to do is go race the damn thing, and tell US which one wins :) As far as whatever weight ratio you are talking about? I have no idea what they are talking about. The cars are nose heavy anyway, and you typically remove weight from the front of the car. That would help the balance, not that it really matter anyway unless you road race or autox. Poeple pull weight out of these cars all the time and it does nothing but good things. If you consider crank windows, manual steering, no cruise, no AC, and small brakes "good things" :icon16:

If you REALLY want to get technical about weight reduction... I've seen where they take and pretty much strip the car out and then have all tires on scales... then to balance the car out they add weight to different areas... end result--A well balanced car!!! lol I think I saw it on the SPEED channel or the like...
As for the RX7... I would have to say you would see nothing but taillights... A friend of mine has had two of them in the past and the one thing I love about the rotary is that there isn't a power curve!!! it's a power line!!! I think they are fun cars.... but not as fun as a turbo'd eclipse!!

What you are refering to is called corner-weighting, if anyone wants the name of the procedure.
