is there any way to tell if an engine is a VTEC? i think its the stock motor .the car is a 99 civic ex. i think d16y8.thanks

Yes the d16y8 is a VTEC motor. If you want more information on your motor try searching for "d16y8" or "SOHC VTEC". There is tons of information on it.

Or you could just check the other thread you made (the one that's like 2 or 3 threads down where 2 people already told you it was a vtec engine.:screwy: But if it's the stock motor, then the sparkplugs will be on the front side of the valve cover; where the non-vtecs have them on the back.
