1992 Bonneville SE trouble code 42

I own a 1992 Bonneville SE. One day a couple weeks ago I went into a store and when I came out the car wouldn't crank. The security light flashes and I get a trouble code 42. Any suggestions?
I tried to search the form for "trouble code 42" but the search ignores "trouble code" and tells me that the term "42" is below the 3 word limit and can't be found.
