What's up Im new here, got the car about 3 months ago, I just ordered the install kit for it for the hks ssqv bov, and I just have one question. On the stock bov it goes into the intake pipe underneath the y-pipe.... what am I supposed to do with what will be a big empty hole there??? anything else i should know?? thanks....

What year is your car? If it's 6 speed, the install kit may hit the shifting link. That's what happened to me at first.
So I just bought some radiator hose, at an Auto place, and connected the HKS near my battery.
[battery] |------|
[HKS]----|Y-Pipe|
[Intake] |------|
The tube, coming from the y-pipe and going into the HKS, is shaped like a "U". Just find a tube like that, without having to bend it, and try it out.

I've done some research on the HKS, it costs about $200, but you need to get an adapter and weld it onto the intake and that sounds like a hastle. There is another option to get it with a kit that allows to mount it withought welding yet the price jumps an astonishing $140 for the kit... is there any way to get around the expense of the kit or the welding? Are all BOVs this difficult to mount? How much would a small insignifigant weld like this cost? It welds to the Y pipe right?

mine didnt require any welding, and only a $4 piece of radiator hose and a $2 radiator patch kit to relocate it a bit.

So you just went to autozone or somthing? So that would work for any BOV?

Well I don't have personal experience with an HKS, but from the pictures on that link, there is no welding involved, it is almost identical installation to my GReddy. Is that metal pipe attached to the HKS BOV the $140 kit you were talking about? I havn't looked at an HKS up close in person, but it seems to me you could use a similar radiator pipe (to what I used) instead of that metal pipe, and get it to work fine with a couple of hose clamps.

Well the kit that HKS makes to go along with it is just radiator pipe and some clamps I think, I just don't get how it ataches to the BOV since its like trying to attach a pipe to a hole.

Is the TurboXS Type H-RFL ne good? Its fairley cheap and from what i herd is lives up to the RFL part but performance wise how does it stand?

It seals with hex-screws and o-rings.
I have owned two (just for a week or two of amusement at the time) and they are not for performance...or perhaps 22+ PSI was the culprtit.

They are rated for 25psi i only plan to u is with 14.5 psi. So do you think that would work? or take my money and invest in somehting else.

mine is a turbo xs bov rfl and i had to do the samething, i went and bought a radiator hose and brought right by the battery.

So how does the radiator hose attach to the BOV? I just can't picture it working easily.

it goes from the Y pipe to the end of the BOV. I will post new pics of my car pretty soon and you can see.

The bov usually has isn't just an opening, it has a 'neck' on it, the radiator pipe slides over this neck, and you use hose clamps to tighten it down.

Ok so the radator hose come from the y-pipe to the bov, by the neck u mean the part that is actully long and cylinder at the top? Which goes down the extruding circular part.
| | This woudl be the neck correct?

Ok, well I'll use the Greddy Type-S for this illustration, just because it doesn't have that stupid metal pipe confusing everyone.

See the thing circled in blue, that is the adaptor, it attaches to the bottom of the BOV, upsidedown from how it is now.
Now see the 2 things circled in green? They are the 2 parts that will attach to intake piping. See how the parts circled in green are metal 'necks'. These are the parts that radiator or intake piping will slide over, and then you clamp down. Hope that allows you to picture how tubing connects to them.

I've installed the Type S, RFL and HKS all the same way... using radiator hose. It's fairly simple once you have the parts.

Got, it and got it installed... was very easy install. The kit would not be necessary to install though. If anybody wants any installed pics or help to get the idea let me know.
