Hey, when I got the GSX, it would only shift into 3 gear. We got to looking around and realized the gear selector shoe was missing. I had the part order from the dealership and when it came in, we installed it. Now that it's installed I can shift into 3 and 4 (have to be just right) and 5 and R, but I still can't shift into 1 or 2. I have no idea whats going on here... Anybody have a clue?

Have yet to figure out what's up with this tranny, thinking about sending it off to Shep... Has anyone on this forum had their tranny rebuilt by Shep? If so, what was the experience like (i.e. how long, were you happy, was it worth the cost). Thanks.

I don't have first hand experience with Shep trannies, but from the year or two of reading about them, I will say that you can't go wrong shipping it to him. I can't really say what's wrong with your tranny though. I know that Kevin and a number of other NEDSM'ers have had their trannies done, and I haven't heard of any complaints. Once he is done with it, it will be stronger then stock, and should shift like a dream.

Did you try to adjust your linkage cables? If not i would try and do that before you spend the money on a new tranny.
Is the tranny grinding at all?

Not sure what the problem is with your tranny/cables/etc, but having shep do your tranny is a no brainer. Only if it actually needs it of course ;) He has done several trannys for me, always superb workmanship, fair prices, and excellent turn around time.

No real grinding, and I know it isn't a linkage issue because we try to change gears manually with the linkage off, same problem. I don't know a whole lot about trannies, but I'm pretty sure there's got to be something wrong inside.
