Hood Scoop Removal

Today I was out crusing with a buddy and he pointed out that if I removed the hood scopes I could gain a couple horsepower. I got to thinking this might actually work cold air rushing in as you drive and when your stoped hot air leaving (hot air rises). What do you guys think.. is it worth it? It looks like the just bolt in from the underside of the hood... correct?

No. haha it's been discussed here and i believe at camarov6.com, do a search, but not worth your time and energy for almost no gains

Is there to make the scoops on the 6er hoods into a ram air system?

I cut the little "openings" open and made some grilles out of perforated steel before we painted my car. At least they LOOK functional now. But definately no power gain.---none

yeah that wont work at all...a real ram air hood isnt all that great from the start most of the guys i know with ws6's put airlids on the damn car anyway they just get an aftermarket cold air induction system. before u gat any gains out of the hood u need to be at a certain speed anyway by that time in a 6er the race is long over. u and i would never see a gain from air rushing into the hood. i just got an ss style hood and its functional but its nothing more than looks, the lid dont line up with the airbox and from what i found u cant make it work, if its about a 6 and going fast (lol) i thought about doing it or trying it! shit ive used ls1 parts on my car and they are better than what i had but no real gains. but to skip all this jibber jabber (too late) if u want functional "ram air" get an ss or a ws6, hell the gt mustangs hood is only for looks.

I know it woun't create a ram air but it would act more as a vent. I am getting the feeling its not worth it though.

yeah just get a cold air intake if u dont have it already, same concept "air in" you will get an actual gain at least
