THis girl i work with just got a new honda, 5th gen 2 door, and it has a SOHC VTEC ZC in it.
She has no idea what she has under her hood haha. Anyway...
She used to have an 89 Integra LS. She said she would sell it to me for 750$.
Its got the b18a1 in it and its got 245k miles on it.
Its tempting... But I would be basicly buying the b18 for 750 bucks so I don't know if its worth it. Its an almost mint teg... just a bump on the front bumper, and the Engine needs to be washed, other then that it runs fine, and its clean.

Too many miles. I don't care how well she took care of it or how long people claim Honda engines will last. You know as soon as you install that engine if you don't have it rebuilt it'll start showing wear immediately. It almost makes me ROTFL (or cry) when I search Autotrader in my area for 10 year old Hondas for sale and find some with a quarter million miles going for thousands more than what they're actually worth in reality...
...but still $750 is a good deal for a whole car.

89's never came with a b18a1, 90-93 did, post a pic of it and lets see
more then likely its a d16 in it, if its an 89.
depending on the year, if it is infact a 90 - 93 then pick it up, u can part it out for a fair bit of cash, and use the rear disc brakes as well :)

I saw the engine myself, it said b18a1 and maybe she is wrong about the year, but its an older one, I am pretty sure its an 89.
Her parents owned it before her, and she is the second owner. I'll get some pics tonight while I am at work.

yeah for 500 bucks you can't beat it! even 750 is pretty good, but the engine does have a heck of a lot of miles. Mine has 205,600 or so and it shows wear but still runs pretty decent. If you're buying it just for the engine save up your money and find a block with lower mileage, or you can just take this one out and rebuild it from the ground up - then decide where you want to put it.
But if the teg body is mint, i'd definitely freshen it up with some bodywork, interior work, fresh engine, maybe a turbo down the road, and that would = one sweet ride :)

wow 245K miles....thats a lot...still 2nd gen tegs are an improvement. But it will be slower than your rex if you deciede to keep it... 90-91 teg 130 bhp. while zc has(129-138[depending on source]) plus the rex is lighter.
Hmm for 750 bucks strip it. You can make at least 750 bucks off it selling stuff besides the engine. (brakes front+rear), dash, cluster, seats, panels, harness, headlights, tails, etc. etc.

I bought a 91 Acura Integra for $500. It turned out the engine block had a couple of cracks in it, and the transmission was bad.
I parted it out on eBay. The parts sold for $1200. Only one person failed to send payment. I got my $500 back and made a $700 profit...although it took me three days and my neighbor helped me for $100 and beer...

PS-You'd make another $200-$400 off of the engine and transmission, if it is indeed a B18A1.

does it have pop up headlights or long leadlights? If popup then its an 89 and down, if long headlights then its 90-93. And since none of you guys listened he read the engine code and it said B18a1. It must be a 90-93 bc the 89 and under came with d16a1's and are shitty.

Its got long head lights so it must be a 90, maybe her parents bought it in 89.

that d16a1 is bacially a really weak dohc zc. Its mounts are different, the tranny doesnt bolt up, and plus... ITS SHITTY. I would buy the teg dude. The motor does have alot of miles on it though. I would try and get it for like $500.

lol im sorry i got a 92 integra that was wrecked for the tow bill to get it to my friends house and since i knew the tow truck driver 30 bucks its got 200k on it but im buying another b18a1 from a friend for 300 just to give you an idea of whats out there if you wait and look hard enough i dont know about your area but around here you can get a junkyard to take the whole swap out for you and pay like 500 for everything and you can probably find something with less miles for less

i agree there has to be a good motor out there for a semi clean car. espeially (spell) a teg, turbo sounds good to.
