Thinking about buying a suburban

im thinking about buying a 1971 suburban for minimal to moderate offroading trips, mostly for transportation for the people who dont want to be in the trucks that are doing the crazy stuff. i want to know if anyone has any input on the 4x4 capabilities of a 71 'burban, i already know about the possible upgrade of the dana 14 bolt front and back differential drop ins.

Sorry, I live in Cleveland, Ohio and any 71 Burbs around here for sale go for $20 Grand+ cause they're in a museum.

Seriously, if you find a 71, you can do a ton of stuff to it for not too much cash. My buddy is going to Arizona for vaction in a couple weeks and is planning to look at a couple of K5 Blazers to bring back cause they are so rare here. The ones we see are only in shows or cruise nights.

The last one I saw that was a driver (in 1984) was a no rust 72 3/4 ton 4x4, 3speed with creeper gear and it was a 3 door, there was no door behind the drivers door (yes, from the factory!). :smokin:

WOW! I just went on collector car trader dot com and there are 40 Burbs for sale between 70 and 74. And they're mostly 3 doors so I guess that was no big deal. But there were some real nice ones that had upgrades newer engines and all kinds of stuff.

One in Oregon was a 3/4 4x4 and it looked great for $16k and a few other nice units all over the price range. Sorry I didn't realize how many COOL vintage Burbs are out there!

yeah right now its between the 71 burb and a 73 K5 blazer... i love bothe because of my chevy loving nature but im torn between the want for a three door to acompany my other three door, and the convertible niceness of a blazer.
