Engine replacement

I was thinking of replacing the sewing machine of an engine I have. The 3.1 is a joke for the size of the Monte. I am having a hard time finding the cost of a 3.8 supercharged on the GM or Chevy site. Some would say just buy a new car as the 2006 does have them...problem is the redesigned body of the 06 is getting further away from what I was hoping it would look like. Given that, I feel more inclined to keep this old stove and juice it up. Any ideas on what it will cost to r/r the engine?

i have a 3.1 in my monte and i dont know what you are talking about.... my mom had a 98 regal with the 3.8 and it has a little more get up but theres notihng wrong with the 3.1. YOu want to talk about a sewing mechine try my 97 wrangler with a 2.5 with a automatic 3 speed, talk about pathetic.

I'm also convinced that something is wrong with the engine yet no sensor tells me otherwise. It is very sluggish despite having premium plugs, K&n air filter, continually clean fuel lines and injectors...something must be wrong with it. I'm wondering if it's the injectors. I've had them flushed and I use the fuel injector cleaner once a month so I am left wondering why it's sluggish. Any thoughts?

Sometimes in the lower gears I can put the pedal half way down and it doesn't have much torque. Oddly enough today it had it...so hit and miss with the Horsepower...that's why I think it may be the injectors. The other problem I've always had since buying it is when I start it up it makes a 'ticking' sound. When it gets warm (about 5 minutes later) it goes away. I figure the oil isn't being pumped somewhere but yet it hasn't gotten worse so it's also hard to troubleshoot. I've asked around to other owners and I've never found anybody with the problems I have so I reckon it was built on Friday afternoon of a long weekend!! :eek7:
