just put a new act clutch and flywheel in my 94 civic jdm b16a and it ran great untill about 2 weeks after install it started squealing when I pull out in 1st gear.. When I back up, with the clutch all the way out , the car catches and releases itself backing up.. anyone know what the deal is or should I take it to a tranny shop?

Sounds like it may not be disengaging/engaging all the way (im not the best diagnostic person) this is what I would do. Look at your clutch close to where it connects to the firewall, there is probably a rod that will be pushed in when you press in the clutch, check and see how its angled, if its not at a 90 degree angle then youll want to loosen the nut just a few threads and take a shop rag or something and turn the rod clockwise to tighten it up, then hold the rod with a pair of channellocks or something of that nature and tighten up the nut. Your goal is to make the pedal so when you push the clutch pedal down there is about 1cm worth of play before the clutch begins to disengage. I know this is kind of vauge but its just where I would start.

thanx will try... yea when I leave the pedal out just alittle bit the clutch grabs the motor right away. before I used to have to let it all the way out to move..I think with an extreme pressure plate its definitly gonna change the feel of the pedal but I will adjust it to see what happens...thanks

did you bleed the lines when you re-attached the tranny? also, did you follow the right break in procedures that the factory says to do?

I adjusted the pedal but it still catchin and releasing in reverse. I did take some slack out of the pedal though by adjusting the locknut..all the lines were bled after install.. the car ran great until about 2 weeks after install. I hope the clutch seated itself before I started drivin hard on it..

About how many miles did you put on it?

about 300 miles since I installed it..I have limited slip differential would there be something in that area that could be a problem. I jacked the car up all ran the car in reverse and it was fine but when the car was let back down on the ground I ran in reverse and it caguht and released. Maybe with it being lowered has something to do but I havn't had that problem before. I had it lowered for a year just to the top of the tires nothin dramatic...

I was tryin to find the problem not run the miles off.. Why wouldn't they just go on ebay and buy a gauge cluster with low miles...hahahaha

Why does my clutch squeal when pulling out in first gear.. It makes a sound likea a loose belt would but its not a belt..I think my shifter bar might be bent b/c shiftin to second does go in to easy.. pretty soon you'll catch my car in the classifieds..

id take it back out and dbl check everything, something sounds fishy...no pilot bearing? some1 put the clutch on backwards......the flywheel wasn't cleaned with brake clean and still had that anti-rust crap they put on it when it sits on a shelf...

alright, let me help. lines bled (your tranny is hydro, no presure, no movement)? gear oil replaced (could have messed up your syncros.....thats if they changed the oil)? clutch line TIGHTENED not loosened (a act clutch is a touchy bitch, get used to it)? throw-out bearing replaced (they useally come with the clutch but you could have borken it and it isnt hitting the pressure plate right)? does it make the same sound coming out of 3rd gear (if there was no oil in the tranny it could have killed the bearings)? was it a back yard mechanic (never do that!)? check your linkage (if they nonpurposly messed up your linkage if could be at the wrong degree and destroying your gears if you are having a hard time going into 2nd)? please respond so i can get a more detailed picture!

its recommended you resurface the flywheel, and you should also wait and be patient untill your 1st peel out ( only recommended).

My dad did the work so I know it is right.. The gear oil I put in the first time was valvoline tranny oil but the honda shop guy said use nothing but honda manual tranny oil..so I put that in but its only been a week to notice any change.. While I was changing that I checked my linkage and the stabalizer bar looks bent but its hard to tell though becasue it has to be to go around the shifter bar. We put the new clutch back just the way the old one come out and dble checked everything.. I ran it hard after I test drove after insatll was done. I don't thing one time gettin on it would hurt anything just makin sure everything was good to go... about 2 months went by and all this started I may need to order some linkage bars...
