To start, im not a genious when it comes to engines, but witht that being said, i do know my toyota very well...every bit of detail is appreciated...
ok, i have an oil leak, a pretty signifigant one, it seems to be coming from right around where the top of the engine meets the remaining bulk of the engine (its right along the seam around the enitre engine, more so towards of the back of the engine...i want to call it the head gasket but like i said, terminology is not my thing...i would like to know the possible problems, solutions, and if available prices and best placves to buy...any help is appreciated
if anymore details are needed please let me know i will check this often until i get a definative answer...

the top of your engine is the head and the bottom is the block and if youre having oil leaking out between them then you head gasket is blown. you can try any local parts place like a napa or somwhere like that and its not that hard to replace. you will also want to pick up some silicone.

Make sure it's the head gasket leaking and not a valve cover gasket. Just doesn't sound like a head gasket to me!! Clean engine up and make sure before jumping into it!!

Clean it up and look at VALVE cover gasket. I bet that's the culprit!

yall have no idea how much i appreciate this...lol but get this, my retarded self never thoguht to check the tension of the 4 bolts holding the valve cover on....lol so yeah they were so loose i could spin them with my fingers, so although i should probably replce the gasket, i think tightening will solve my problem....new question, what ft./lbs. should these 4 bolts be torqued to???

I don't have access to my manuals at the moment. If you still need it when I get home this afternoon, I'll get it to you. Which engine do you have?

Just snug it down. Couldn't find torque for rocker cover bolts for some reason.

Hey yeah, dont tighten them down too much like this idiot over here (myself) did once when I was a kid years ago. Snapped a couple right off LOL. Just as "sassee" says, snug them down.
