Bad headlight switch??

I have a 1998 cherokee sport 4.0 L, recently my headlight switch broke after fooling with the knob because it was sticking and I coultn't pull it out to turn on my lights. I've got a new switch now from Autozone, plugged it up and headlights still dont work, although the interior light dimmer on the switch does. Any advice?

I too am having trouble with my headlight switch. I removed the knob so that i could remove the dash and now my dimmers dont work and my running lights dont operate. i have headlights but that is all. i bought a new switch too. mine is a 97 sport.
