i am 17 and just got my first car. it is a 95 stang GT . as far as I know it is still all stock. I need to know what mods are best to start with and work my way up from there. i need specifics here, since i am a beginner and i don't want to screw up. any advice, tips or points is helpful. i have 3k saved up and would like to get started, so any help from you more experienced people out there is going to be greatly appreciated...

Start with exhaust. Get a nice set of headers, if you are a beginner and doing this stuff yourself then I think shortys would be easier for you. Then run an H-pipe and catback. Mac makes some nice stuff for the price. Then normally I would say rearend gears but unless you have the experience and tools you would need to find someone to do it for you. Is this car a 5 spd or auto? After that you start getting into MAF's, throttle bodies, intakes, heads, cam, injectors, ect ect ect. You can easily get exhaust and gears for way under 3 grand. You could also look into some control arms and stuff for your suspension.

Damn I wish I had 3k to toss into my 95 GT! you lucky kids, no resposibilities ;)
Anyway, for 3k I would get the following:
Aluminum Heads(GT40's usually go for $700)
K&N Filter. (Buy it new, maybe $60-$70?)
Shorty Headers(Buy used ones $150)
Roller Rockers($150)
24lbs Injectors and Calibrated MAF (Or EEC Tuner/Tweecer)($300 with MAF, $600 with EEC Tuner/Tweecer)
UD Pulleys ($50)
Hi Flowing Fuel Pump and Regulator($150?)
180 degree Thermostat($20?)
Cat Back Exhaust (Flowmaster? Dynaflow?)($400)
3.55 Gears(Buy New $100)
Now if you can do most of it on your own that would be great. If you need to take it to a shop, for them to get it all done it's easily a good $1000 for all the labour from local mechanic. There goes your $3k and another $300 extra for that, but you've added 80-100hp to the Car and with the Gear it'll feel like 150hp :D
This is what I am slowly trying to do with mine as money permits :(

I wouldnt suggest GT40 heads. There are much much better heads out there for not much more. Your already spening $700 on them, spend $300-$400 more and you will be a whole lot more satisfied. I payed $1150 for my heads.
