SL vs Mustang GT

I know this has probably been brought up before, but I never saw anything definitive about the 99+ Mustang GT's. I was just reading a Mustang magazine yesterday, and it was saying that a 2000 Mustang GT ran 15.1 in the 1/4 for it's best time (it was later beefed up to run 9's). Now that's right around the SL which has a best stock 1/4 of 14.8-9 from what everyone says. From what i've seen on here everyone said that the 98 and below GT ran 15.1 but after 99 it was faster...and now the Mustang magazine just told me otherwise...so whats the deal here?

The Mustang GT is actually a better race for VR4's, especially on the highway. They can pull off low 14 second times and with gears, high 13's. 15.1 would have been an auto.

My buddy's 98 GT ran 14.9 (best, after running it like 10 times) and he had flowmasters.

GT's are slow.
14.7 is a good time for a GT.
They're not as fast as everyone makes them out to be.
A mach 1 sounds more like what you're talking about Boosted.

no boosted is correct, 99+ mustang gt's run mid to low 14's
and sl's are more in the 15.5-15.1 area
if a sl runs 14.8 it had everything going for it, sea level cold day wind blowing in your direction etc

hmmm...I think the 2000 GT that I read about might have been a convertible, could that be why? So what I was thinking before that 98 and before GT runs around 15, and 99 and above runs mid to low 14 is right??

i've always heard about them running mid to low 14s, personally, i've ridden in one and it didnt seem quite that fast . . . that and none of the ones around here run those kinds of times.

My friends 02 ATX GT with just intake and exhaust runs 13.8-13.9 consistenly. 99+ GT's are no joke.

i've been in my friends modded WRX non-STi, and his WRX is probably a mid to high 13 second car, plus factor in AWD, and i've been in the car with him and he's walked plenty of GT's without that much of a problem, and from a roll too

i understand what your saying hotshot, personall experiences tend to take over thoughts. though i know my vr4 is as fast or faster than my dads vette, it doesnt feel like it.
personally i've been in both a 04 wrx and a 02 mustang gt, and the mustang just felt wonderously stronger than a wrx. from my personall experience the gt will destroy a wrx by 3 car lengths. but thats not the case.
hp to weight alone shows you the gt is got everything going for it

thats true my old 5.7L firebird felt alot faster than the VR4 but when me and my friend raced he beat me.
but i saw you were talking about the mustangs. they are a bit slow in my opinion. their v-8 was 10 hp more than the f-body's v-6 3.8L engine

and as you look up, though it has 40 less hp than the vr4, it has just as much tq, and wieghs 550lbs less
there's nothing slow about a 99+ gt

Yes the 94-98 GT's were only like 210 hp, but the 99+ had much more. They definitely arent slow.
