Fuel problem??

Ok. First let me say that I am unexperienced when it comes to cars, so if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about, I probably don't!. The problem with my sunfire is that when it seems to have warmed up or the weather outside is mild, it starts to chug and almost stalls when I have the car stoped. The rpms just keep lagging to about 400 or 500 and then it jumps up to about 1200 and than back an forth. Also, sometimes I'll be driving in 3rd gear lets say with the rmps around 3000 and when I take my foot off of the gas, the car also starts chugging as if I'm just learning how to drive standard!! (oh..car is standard by the way). The car is at the garage, but of course it won't do anything for him, so he's not sure what the problem is and I'm getting frusterated. He's cleaned out the fuel injectors, replaced the fuel filter, etc, but it's still doing it to me. He's also checked the engine, and everything is reading fine.

Any suggestions?? Has anyone had anything similar occur?

Check ignition coil, spark plugs/wires...?

I have the same problem (or so it seems) on my 2002 Sunfire. My car is under extended warrenty, so I have had them beating on it to fix it. I have brought it to them 5 times! Once, they replaced 2 ignition coils. 2) cleaned fuel system (at my cost) 3) replaced ignition sensor (I think) 4) did a complete tune-up (myself) 5) replaced the computer/reprogramed entire car 6) replaced fuel filter; recommended fuel tank drop/cleaning. I'm about to do the last thing at my cost... The only other thing they said it could be is something in the transmission-fly wheel?. (I have an automatic tranny) Let me know if you have been able to figure it out. Cause the dealership and I sure can't!

We did finally figure it out. It seemed one of the wires in my control module was starting to corrode. The little metal connectors were blue! The wire and the little box that the wires connect in (sorry..don't know the technical terms!) were replaced and I haven't had a problem since. It was easy enough for my mech to fix. 3/4hr labour and $1.95 for the wire he used. Let me know if you need any more info. I can always call my mech and ask him exactly what was done.
