Hello, i hope someone can help me... i don't know a lot about cars!
My golf is 1.8 CL 1993. When the car has been left for a few hours or more it has real problems starting up. It will turn over but won't fire unless i keep pumping the gas, then when it does catch the revs keep dropping and it will stall unless i keep the accelarator pushed down. Once it has been through this routine and i keep revving it, it is fine to drive and will not stall again until it has been left for a few hours and is cold again. Any ideas / help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

===> I am having the same problem with my golf 1.8 CL 1997. I've had it in the shop twice and the problem is still there. Any help or suggestions would be awsome!!! Thanks.

To me it sounds like leaking fuel injectors. Have the shop or you hook up a fuel gauge and see if the pressure drops slowly when the key is off.
If they leak gas puddles in the manfold making it hard to start- overnight the gas evaporates...
