Got my C&D February 2001 today.
Well, first of all, I think they're doing the research a lil too quick- it's not even January yet and I have already recieved an issue for February....
OK, now the important stuff.
On page 28 there's a tiny strip about the R35 GT-R.
I quote:
"Skyline Sneaks up on Supercar
Long the hottest ride in Nissan's international car collection, the Skyline GT-R is counting down to a major makeover-due to debut in late 2003-and also a possible first-ever appearance in the U.S. market. Code-named R-35, the next generation GT-R is expected to get a haul-ass 400-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged [ehem, thats TWIN turbocharged - Igor] V-6 or an even more potent version of the 4.5-liter V-8 used in the Infiniti Q45 sedan."
I wanna believe that C&D is bluffing. :{
3 liter V-6? why the heck would they do that? What's wrong with the flat-6?? I kinda understood the point in switching to a V-8, but a V-6? I'm telling ya just make a frickin RB30DETT if you want bigger displacement.
----------
I've seen the future, and all I can say is go back....

C&D is definately full of crap. I didn't get mine today, I always get my R&T first... Anyway, they would use the 3.5L engine they're using in all their 6 cylindar cars now, which would be about 450 horsepower TTed anyway.
Fingers crossed, I hope they go for the 8 for the American market (so I can get one and twin turbocharge it myself for around 700 hp;) ).
I wish these magazines would research more for being so full of themselves.
P.S. I forgot to mention the fact that they might use the 3.5 for reasons of cost efficiency, they already have the resources for it and would need little more to add the twin-turbos. Still the 8 would have so much torque...

I can live with the wedged rear fenders[kind of reminds me of the s15] but that front end...:frown: The R34 had so much style, did they have to change it that much?

The new Skyline is a piece. The R34 was just awesome looking, then they have to go and thow Skyline down the poop shoot and make it look like a G35.

why go with a v6? They have em just layin around. they have the 2.5 the 3.0 and the 3.5 in their other cars, so why not just use one of those, instead of having to create a whole new engine cast. But, yeah it's not as good lookin as the last 1's.

whats up with the new front end? its soo not the skyline style anymore. The r34 was soo much style in it with the right amount of power in it.

Stop complaining. There's at least two years until the car is launched. No one even knows what the final car will look like yet.

No. The chassis designation for the Infiniti G35 and Nissan Skyline GT250/350 is V35. The G35/Skyline GT350 Coupes are designated as CPV35.

nissan should stick with a 6-cylinder i say. i can't see japanese cars have v-8's in them. that is mainly american (and some italian). but like some people said, we have no idea what it is going to be like, it is still a few years down the road.

Just look at everything Nissan makes now - 350Z, new Altima, Titan all ugly as hell! It's the Renault Frenck influence, it's criminal. R34 was sweet.

All Renault did was purchase 44% of Nissan for a 'controlling interest' to bail them out. Renault has had little effect on on the design of Nissans, especially those in the US. The Altima and Titan are US-built models, likely designed in the US as well. Blame Americans if you don't like the styling. The design chosen for the 350Z was done by an Indian guy from the UK by the name of Ajay Panchal...in a US studio.
To top it all off, guess what? The 'sweet' R34 was done while Renault was in control, too. :iceslolan
What Renault is really doing with Nissan is using their engines and some platforms. There have been at least two Renaults, the Vel Satis and Avantine, that have used Nissan's VQ V6. The Renault Fluence coupe concept is rather obviously based on the FM platform. The next Sentra may be based on the Renault Megane platform, which is pretty darn good. The Megane is also available in turbocharged RS form, with a 2L turbo I4 making 222hp, which opens up all kinds of possibilities for the next Sentra SE-R.
Don't you dare try saying that Carlos Ghosn is French, either. I've heard that one before. He's actually Brazilian, as if his ethnicity matters. :grinyes:

Wow a wealth of knowledge from me you get applause. Maybe that was just french bashing on my part (no not because they don't support Bush's war, it's because their flaming anti-sematism) Either way designed by the French, Americans, Japanese or Brazilians Nissans are now all pretty much ugly! Smart move by Renault to move to Nissan drivelines though.

Why Nissan don't use the I6 anymore? Because they don't have anymore that they can squeeze out from it. But in comparison, the VQ engine has a whole lot more potential than the RB26DETT...
From some Japanese websites like half year ago.
And that's one of the reasons that NISMO is not using R34 in JGTC anymore but using Z33 instead.

And about those Japanese automaker websites, you just need to learn how to read Katakana writings. Then you can pretty much guess what it means.
