Marijuana or Cigarettes?

Marijuana is from the earth and people smoke it for medical purposeses, to relieve stress, or just for the hell of it. But it's also illegal and can impair you. On the other hand, cigarettes are legal and people smoke them to relieve stress or just for the hell of it. But it's also one of, if not the most dangerous product known to man, and they cause cancer. Just wondering what you think is the worst of the two. My opinion is cigarettes. What do you think and why?

Find me a guy who's smoked a pack a day for 10 years


Then find the the average stoner who's smoked a joint or two a day (And more on festive occasions) for the same time span.

Both are likely to be stuffed full of cancer in a few more decades, however the stoner will be lazy, posses the brain speed of a lame snail and a general fuck up by anyones standards. The smoker'll be just a normal guy who is more likely to get cancer.


It cracks me up how these stoners think that Dope can do no wrong. It can and it will.

If used in moderation, neither will harm you too much. However as said before a heavy smoker will probably just have lower stamina and run the risk of cancer after a few decades, whereas a heavy stoner turns into an anti-social vegetable.

cigarettes basically only cause cancer if you are already genetically prone to it.

oh, and weed is better (not everyday ---> once in a while).

i think cigarettes are way worse. they contain a poison that addicts you to them. people who have smoked for like 5+ years, usually don't want to smoke anymore and only do because they're addicted. people who smoke weed do so because they enjoy it and it makes them feel good.

and the people generalizing about people who smoke weed regularly as being lazy, stupid, and destined to be unsuccessful are just being closed minded and don't know what they're talking about. there are far too many smokers in the world to say that they are all lazy, stupid, etc. your statements remind me of the type of closed minded things people used to say about african americans prior the desegregation. if you're gonna base your beliefs by only what you've encountered then i could say everyone that drinks alcohol is a loud, obnoxious, bumbling idiot, or everyone that drives a Honda civic is either a penny pinching cheap skate, or a ricer, but it's not true, it's just bigotry.

cigarettes are horrible, i am a smoker and i wish they were never created. i quit for 2 1/2 yrs, then my mechanic tottalled my car and i was right back on em. they are more addictive then heroin and really just make u feel normal after u smoke one. so basically u smoke everyday to feel normal and not like a fiend! if i was out of cigs at 10pm and there was a blizzard, id probably go try to buy a pack. with weed, i could live without it for a while, and it makes me feel good for bout an hour. if i quit weed and smokes more cigs, i would feel like shit everyday, whereas if i quit cigs and smoked more weed, id feel great. guess its time to quit cigs again!!!!

I'd say that cigarettes, since the cig smoker is exposing themselves more often, for a longer period of time.

WEED IS BETTER than cigarettes! I hear about ppl dying everyday from cigarettes but I've never heard of anyone dying from smoking weed. Hell look @ Willie Nelson weed saved his life and now he's like 80 years old, and still toking strong!

Both will fuck up your life, and others lifes up in the long run. And stoned pimp, weed gives you lung cancer the same way cigarettes do. Seeing a family member almost dieing from smokeing really opens your eyes. Ive smoked both and it just fucks your health up. Im overwieght and i can outrun all of my stoner friends that wiegh 50 plus pounds lighter then me.

i dont think a single person in the world has ever died from smokeing marijuana, you sure as hell cant say the same thing for cigs.

weed lessons the brains ability to make new memories. cigarettes on the other hand(or other nicotine products) stimulate the memory ever so slightly. it has even been tried on Alzhiemer's patients who seem to remember things a little bit better with nicotine in their system. but that doesn't mean cigarettes are good.

cigarettes are more addicting than weed, and are much harder to quit. i quit smoking for three days and i was a mental wreck. i quit smoking weed for three months and felt nothing...but my insomnia, one of the reasons i had started smoking weed on an almost daily basis, had returned and tortured me worse than the occassional cotton mouth, so i started again. as an addict i'd rather have cigarettes than weed, but weed is good for some things, while cigarettes are way worse.

oh and i was never a lazy stoner, and most stoners i know are not lazy, they have to have a job to support their habits, as do i, and pretty much function as normal people... with red eyes.

satchmode, if u could get over the nic addiction, would cigs still be ur pic? not me, they do nothing for me except make me normal for an hr, then its back to being a fiend! i use weed also to help with sleeping problems. if i dont smoke, ill sit in bed and think all night. i cant seem to relax after work without gettin high. and i am one of those functioning red eyers!!!!!lol

How many people have died in car accidents while smoking weed. Or just got in car accidents? now how many have gotten into car accidents while smoking cigarettes?

The ones who got in wrecks because of cigarettes got in them because they were likely distracted.

A really potent blunt can really mess you up, A friend of mine who tokes said that after one of those he really didn't trust himself to drive.
He's driven drunk before.

To those of you who say Smoking weed isn't bad in moderation, cigarettes likely aren't bad in moderation either, if you're smoking 16 blunts a day, every day, it'll catch up to you.

I used to smoke cigarettes, Usually 8-10 a week, often less, occasionally more, I'll tell you in 40 years if I have cancer, I doubt I will.

I've never smoked pot, and never will, even if they make it legal. Why? I like being in total control of myself. When I don't want to be in total control of myself, I'll have some alcohol, I'm a social drinker, and I was a social smoker. And I'll never be a stoner. I don't personally know a single stoner who's been a success, contrary to that, I know some ex-stoners who have had very good success (Makin 48k a year at 18 years old certainly isn't bad now is it?)

I dont care what your friend says.. I've driven around for hours smoking weed with friends, and never drove erraticly. Ive driven drunk too, but only STRAIGHT HOME, because its harder. You've never done it, so you can't say thats not true. Also.. look at famous musicians. 99 percent of them smoke weed, and can still write songs that the whole world wants to listen to. I dont see you writing world famous music and you dont smoke. Were they just born 1000 times smarter than you, or does the weed just not make a difference? Im not saying weed doesnt affect your brain. I know for a fact it does. I smoked every day for 8 months and I noticed a difference. (And im not talking about one or two joints a day, Im talkin all day err day) But since I quit about 3-4 months ago I have returned back to normal.

I will never smoke a cigarette in my life (never have, and Ill be damned if I do), but I plan on smoking weed again eventually.

Basically, I dont care if you dont want to smoke weed, but when you make judgements on people and stereotype all weed smokers, then you just need to grow up. There is legal pot. it's called Government Marijuana. a controlled substance which is used by The Cannabis Club(a pharmacy for pot) in California to fill the prescriptions of Medicinal Marijuana users. The government has its own stash of weed to be able to test on lab mice in order to find out how pot affects our bodies. this is where we get our anti-drug campaign. mostly universities research the drug, then send the results to out to the media and the government. more advanced studies are probably under way right now, as the percentage of drug users/abusers in america has risen within the younger generation. there's a bigger reason to study it now.

studies are also trying to discover the affect of the butane lighter fluid which is more often then not the source of the fire to light a cigarette or joint or bowl. it seems to me that natural smoke(like American Spirits supposedly chemical free tobacco, or... weed) wouldn't be as bad without the sulfur from the match or the burning butane. or without the really small amount of gunpowder put in the paper used for cigarettes and rolling papers for js.

It is and hence why I said it's a good thing.

Moss, just because you've encountered nothing but stoners like hockeygod, doesn't mean we're all like that. i just got my associates degree, i drive a 2002 car that i pay for, i have a job, and was just accepted to transfer to a new college come the end of summer and yes i smoke weed and i do so on a daily basis. i don't see what you could have that makes you so much more of a model citizen than myself. It helps me unwind after a long day, what makes me any different than someone who has a glass of beer/wine or two with dinner every night aside from the legality issues? I smoke both. And I wish to god I could quit smoking cigs. I cant stand them, but I am hooked. As far as weed goes, love it. I dont smoke it all day, just 1 or 2 a day. It calms the nerves and relaxes me. I am not a lazy person. I am probaly one of the most active people you will meet. I love to stay active. I bust my ass all day. I help my father in law build projects for my kids ( race car beds, play house beds, Club houses, you name it. ) I split my own wood at home I am not just a lazy house wife that sits on my lazy ass and smokes my husbands stash. Hell, I even mow the lawn and trim my trees. The weed just relaxes me while I do it. Also smoking weed does not make you anti social, or stay in the home. I am verry social and so are the other people I know who smoke. As far as smoking being bad for your health, yes it is. So is breathing this nasty air that surrounds us, all the factory shit and the shit our cars put into the air. Hell smoke them if you got them, nobody lives for ever. just my opnion

wow way to look down the road. The farthest you got in that post was like 2 months from now, and somehow you think that the car you're going to prom in is solid proof that weed isn't bad? about weed dealers in high school, I am highly against that. I dont think high schoolers should smoke weed. I smoked weed on a very rare basis when I was in high school. Maybe like 5 times in my senior year, and most of those times I was pressured into it. I have smoked a lot of weed, and know for a fact that it decreases your ability to learn and pay attention, and retain knowledge. High schoolers should not smoke weed.

Once you are out of high school though, and you turn 18, I think its really up to you. If you think you can afford it, and keep a job, and pay rent, and pay bills, and car maintenance, then go ahead.

If I was a parent, and had a kid in high school, I would rather them be smoking cigarettes, so it would not affect their grades. But once they are out of school, I would HIGHLY prefer them to smoke weed.

4-8 years?! wtf? first of all, alcohol is much worse then marijuana, and to those whom alcohol is illegal(anyone under 21) possession of alcohol is not a major crime. worst case scenario you have to go to a couple AA classes. the only reason marijuana is not a game is because of goddamn reagan and his crack-down on drugs that started it back in the 80's, which was more directed towards cocaine and other major drugs, but has filtered down and landed the hardest on marijuana users, because, let's face it, crack dealers(and dealers of whatever else) are why too sketched out to get caught very often. weed dealers could give a fuck less, because most of them aren't very big operations and the jail time is 1-2 years max for the amount of drugs they're moving, which is worth it to them considering they don't have to do real work.
