new rim sizing

will 17x7.5 fit nicely on an 02 z24, or is it too wide? also, i want the rims to stick out about 1/2 inch more than stock and i want 17x7 or 7.5, what would the offset have to be. and would the offset do any long term damage to the suspension? and if i got 17x7.5, would i have to get a different offset than the 43? that is on stock? i haven't lowered it yet by the way

Things to take into consideration. Bolt pattern has to be 5X100 and the offset needs to be 38-42mm. You can fit all the way up to 8" wide tires with a 42mm offset and 19" rims. Other factors limiting this is if your car is lowered. So you may or may not have to roll your fenders. If you go lower on the offset then you might have to roll them with a drop. But yes what you have selected above will work.

I have 17" rims on my 04 Cavi. They are 17x7 and stick out just a little bit wider than stock. I think that would be the look you are goin for. It does look good though.

alright, thanks guys. i think the stock rims are sunk in just a little too much so i wanted my new ones to stick out just a little for a more aggressive look.
i also forgot to ask about lightweight rims. how heavy are the stock? and does anyone know of a company that sells lightweight rims at a decent price?
oh, and do you know what your offset is bdd2003?

THE WEB SITE I ORDERED MY RIMS FROM DIDN'T GIVE ME AN OFFSET. I WENT BACK AND TRIED TO FIND OUT FOR YOU BUT AM NOT COMING UP WITH ANYTHING. IT DEFINITELY LOOKS MORE AGRESSIVE. IF YOU CAN FIND ANY INFO ON NAKAYAMA MODERNSPEED(THATS THE STYLE OF RIM I CURRENTLY HAVE ON) THEN U MIGHT GET AN IDEA. HOPE IT WAS OF SOME HELP. WHEN MOVING UP ON SIZE, THE WEIGHT DOES GO UP. UNLESS YOU ARE WANTING TO SPEND A FORTUNE ON LIGHTWEIGHT WHEELS, YOU ARE MOST LIKELY NOT GONNA FIND EM. JUST THE TIRE, NOT THE RIM, WEIGHS ALMOST 24 LBS. WHEN THE BOX ARRIVED AT MY DOOR, THE BOX SAID IT ONLY WEIGHED 35 LBS. SO THE RIM DID NOT ACTUALLY WEIGH THAT MUCH. HOPE THAT HELPS OUT A LITTLE BIT.

uhhh.... did they say it would fit a cavalier? If so then your all set. Those numbers are reference for how much the wheel sits out from the hub. Oh and if your rims don't come with hubcentric rings, you should get them Inner # should be 57.1mm and the outter need to be the center bore of your rim.

Long term damage is only really for the wheel bearings! Basically you essentially twist the bearing the more offset you have as it wont support the weight of the car evenly.
