Smoke under hood

My used air compressor went out on me and my mechanic disconnected the belt from it because it locked up and completely shut off my car. During that time, there was smoke coming out under the hood and it was very loud. We assumed that the belt was the problem smoking because it was getting locked up.
Now that he took it out, there still has been smoke once in a while. I don't worry about it too much because the engine or whatever it was before is not loud, there are not lights coming on in the car. Maybe its condensation. It has happened 3 times since I got my car fixed. Any ideas what it might be?

where is it coming from? if from the area near the radiator, that steams for a few minutes when the thermastat opens of course it has to be cool out side at the time

One day I did pop open the hood and found where the smoke was coming from, its from this long white, wide pipe. And sometimes it really only does smoke when its cold outside. Could you help out?
