Gran Turismo 4 in 1:24

Okay, I figure everyone is chomping at the bit for GT4 at this moment, so why not start a thread, it's going to happen anyway as talk of GT4 has started popping up in other threads? This is modeling related, in case mods feel the need to move it.

Just a few more hours, well, at least for the US folks. I'm passing the time looking over the car list, not to see what to drive, but to see what to make in 1:24. I've always found some of GT's concept LM editions kind of cool, like the S2000 LM Edition from GT3 with the 4 center lights. I'm sure GT4 will be abound with many of them. Here are a few that caught my eye on the car list.

2001 : RX-8 Concept LM Race Car
2002 : NISMO Fairlady Z S-tune Aero concept by GRAN TURISMO (Z33)
2002 : Fairlady Z Concept LM Race Car (Z33)

Now I have no idea what these look like, but will soon. Then I can get an idea of what to make. I'll definitely have at least one GT4-related project soon. Anyone else?

I want to make some chicanes to put my motorsport and weekend warrior (read: all but the truck) models on. Does that count? The S curve from the end of Apricot Hill would be prettiest in my estimation.

Hell yea, the S curve at the end of Apricot Hill is very nice, or something challenging like the corkscrew at Laguna Seca< Worst turn to go down with a Viper:lol: I plan on doing several Honda's from the game. Even an S2000:) But first, I need the game. I am still unaware of all the cars that are going to be on the game. So if anyone can share a link to the list or something, it would be cool:)

I remember Chris saying he wanted to make that funky Z33 Nismo S-Tune bodykit. I guess it grows on you because at first I hated it. Now, I kinda like it.

Laguna Seca.......my favorite track. I've tuned all my cars on this track. Love it!

I still haven't gotten around to building the models of the cars I loved in GT1!!! :(

Forza wasn't formally announced until late 2003 and has undergone only two delays, and the most recent one was primarily to avoid getting lost in the GT4 sales volley.

I'm an Xbox owner, and while I've been a Gran Turismo supporter for sometime I'm afraid that the only tempting things in GT4 are the Triumph Spitfire and the Jaguar XJR-9LM.

I'm much more excited about driving a Ferrari 333SP at Seca in Forza come May. I tried it in a demo and it was both true to life and incredibly difficult. I loved every moment.

Interesting they would list an RX-8 LeMans concept, since rotary engines aren't able to compete at LeMans.

gt4 is gonna be awsome i barley have enough money for projects i think of without video games now i get this!? damn BTW i get my copy tomorrow when the ups name drops it off ;)

I picked it up on the way back from work from EB Games (6:30pm). Just popped it in, as other things needed to get done (eating, bills, etc) beforehand, since I will be completely unproductive until my concall at 10am tomorrow morning.

All I have to say is that GRAND TURISMO 4 IS UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING!!!!!!!! I got my copy this afternoon and I haven't stopped playin it since I got home from school. They brought back the used car ablilty from Grand turismo 2. IT's a really awesome game.

After scanning the list of cars, I decided I need this game, simply for the DMC DeLorean. I used to drive one, and this would just make my day!

Oh yeah, and I guess someday I'll be building a model of the ol' D.

I picked my copy up at 4 frommy local EB games and have been playing it since. As for modeling cars from it, I think some of the GT LM cars would be cool to make, like the Impreza from GT3.

That's exactly the reason I bought my PS2, well, I bought it for GT3 but you know what I mean.

Being a UK GT-er I have to wait a bit longer but I think GT4 is going to be a great as a reference tool not just an awesome game.

Just a bit worried at how much modelling time is going to be stolen! GTA San Andreas has already stolen a great deal of modelling time. However, I've NEARLY completed it! :evillol:

Gran Turismo is my favourite game series of all time and I've got a pre-order in for GT4. I've been playing since GT1, completed GT1 and GT2 and got to 99.6% on GT3. So i'm definately in for GT4.

However GT4 is not living up to my expectations at the moment. Although Polyphony is claiming that they have greatly increased the number of cars in the game, while browsing down the list of cars in GT4 I saw about 50 different variations of the Nissan Skyline. How about some variety for a change? Also, rally driving was crap on GT3 (I'm not really a fan of arcade style rallying anyway, prefer simulation rally games) but I hope this aspect of the game has been improved for GT4.

:lol: I just finished beating the s@#& out of that car with my 93 Civic SIR-II (EG):) One thing i am liking about GT4 is that you can transfer your A and B Liscence's and 100,000 Credits from GT3, that saved a hell of a time for me. I am not to sure about how the car feels right now. Compared to GT3 everything feels funky. The cars slide out the curves soo easily for me, and braking is sooo difficult without losing major speed. I guess I have to get real used to it. I had been playing GT3 all week last week preparing myself but it seems like it didn't help:lol: the Amuse S2000 R1 is soooooooo nice! So is the Cuzco JGTC Impreza...those are my favorites right now.. And ofcourse my Civic SIR-II. How nice is it to start a game with enough money to buy most of the parts you need to kick some a**. The car was only 5,000 credits!!! then upgrade clutch (LSD and all that), Exhaust, rimmmms, and suspension, and man this car is wippin butt! I love all the Honda's in this game. Shoot they even brought back the 79' Civic Hatch!, my neighbor used to have that car in my country:lol: I love it:)

The Honda NSX-R LM Road Version looks like it'd make a nice model. (ponders what to kit bash)

Well no other racing sim can even compete with the GT series. Forza Motorsport does seem like it comes close though. Don't own a PS2 but I have played GT4 and was pretty impressed by it. I own an Xbox so I'm not gonna bother getting a PS2 just for GT4. I know this sounds crazy but I think GT2 was the best of the series. Haven't played Forza yet, I can only hope its up to par with GT4. Anyways, not too sure what car I'd model from GT....maybe the Nissan R390. Try and convert the GT1 by Tamiya into the street version.

Both Nurburgring, Circuit de la Sarthe are in, plus Infineon(Sears Points) and Laguna Seca.

from what i gather, the game was optimised for play on the new driving force pro (unlike the last game which was the otehr way around) so if you're using the pads, you're gonna be missing out.

I bought a Skyline from the used store that I tuned to 480 HP. I transfered 100,000 credits which is the max from my GT3 game ( I have 3.7million). Driving the Nurburgring is the best, so fast so many turns. I'm going to start a new game from scratch as well.

I had to buy the closest I could get to my 1:1, that is after I made enough money. I got myself a used 240sx (180sx actually). Same chassis, almost identical body, but different engine (i wish I had an sr). I also have a skyline, infiniti G20 and about 10 other cars I have won.

I was thinking today of a car that would be cool to make that is kind of GTish. A JGTC style 180sx, I don't know if it has been done before, but I am definatly going to add it to my long list of projects.

Yeah, so do I. I've gotten every version of this game so far, and with each version, I've had to improve/change my driving style. In fact, I'm getting better. Of course the creator of the game may be doing this on purpose, read an article online(so it must be true...I hope it is) that says he may add crash physics and such in GT 5 for the PS3. Doing that would force players to really improve their driving...in theory.

I love the game so far except for a couple of things. I was looking through the cars and in the French section under Peugeot and Citroen, in the new section, the rally cars are pretty old. The Citroen Xsara is the '99 version and the Peugeot 206 is the 2000 car...what gives? Those aren't new...they should be in the 'classics' section. Oh well....

Heres how you can make easy money:

Go to special condition races, go to the second race called Capri Rally (Easy), race both tracks, and you will win a Toyota Rally car, you can sell it for $265000. Then, go back to the Capri Rally, and enter. It will ask you if you want to clear race data, or something like that, choose okay, race the races again, and you'll win the Toyota Rally car again..and you can sell it again for $265000. Easy way to get alot of cash quick.

Yup:) For some reason i suck badly in Rally on this game:lol: Its soo different! I already got the hang of the normal racing but the rally is just breaking my b*llz. Some of my cars are Cadillac Cien (900 suttin HP Supercharged, takes forever to shift gears) Nissan 350Z LM Concept (800 suttin horsepower turbo, my best car yet) Option Stream Z (Yup, the second edition of the one that got wrecked, the turbo spools soo loud) BP Falken D1GP FC RX7, Mugen Motul Civic 87', 93' Civic SiR-II (360 suttin HP), 90 Honda CRX SiR (STOCK!), Nismo 400R (I LOVE IT!), Mazdaspeed 6 with some WorkMeisters:), Mazda 6 Concept, and a bunch of classics which im not selling yet because they don't have any value:(

the nismo 400r is sick, gotta say i want tamiya to release so many cars that are in this game. Like the whole bmw and audi selection. The main car i had to get second cause 10,000 credits will get you something slow was the VW R32. Did you guys check the Toms Supra theres 2, hopefully tamiya releases that one too. Can't remember what exactly i got but some include 350z nismo, VW r32 tuned, 400r R33, mr2, r34 skyline, some weird nike go kart lookin thing, BMW m5 M3 M3 gtr and Z4, VW gti 05 76, audi s4 and many more can't think of at the moment. The only weird thing i don't like about the game is the 5 sec penalties you get after hitting the wall or car in the snow dirt competitions, oh well i guess it make it more realistic.

The Nismo 400R is available as a Scale Auto Style transkit. I'll build mine eventually.

Off topic question - Some pre-release car-lists I saw of this game listed a 1970 Firebird Formula as in the game, I even saw pics of it. Did it make it into the final GT4 version?

Havn't seen one yet. But it may be one of those cars you have to unlock. The Pontiac seemed disappointedly empty.
