try www.fbodymotorsports.com, they have most of their prices for installs online so you could probably find it on the website, if not then call thier number, they might have an 800 #.

ok heres the deal....the parts should run u around 100 bucks, and going rate is 6hrs labor and lets say 100 bucks an hr(thats what a dealer would charge 4 this job) so give a little less maybe. my boy said 700 would be great 800 would be the limit depending on what kind of gaskets they use. hes an ex chevy tech that worked at a dealership and said thats what the going price was. if u are like me and try to either find someone else because the dealer is usually high as hell or do it yourself, which not taking away from u im guessing u dont wanna go that rout, but if u do then thats great. too bad your not near tampa the club i belong to is a f-body shop and thats all they do all day camaro's and TA's he said he could do it for half the price. he said u were like 2 hrs or so away south and i didnt think u would drive here 4 that. so i hope that helps out a bit if u need help finding a place in your area if u cant find one yourself i could look something up and see if i can help u out a bit more. also just so u can be sure not to get the run around if u do find a place and u would like 4 me to call and talk to them and get a quote 4 u just give me the name and number of the shop and ill talk to them because i know some places try an bullshit women. hope i helped out.

Why does it need lifters chevy chic?Is it making noise or somthing?I ask because usually a professional will not change lifers without buying a cam and lifter set.If its just noise you can adjust a ticking noise out of the motor.

yeah its making a horrible tapping noise....what would have to be done to fix it without replacing them?

well for starters you can possibly adjust the rocker arms to remove the play.Is it a single tapping noise or a bunch of tapping noises coming from the same place.?

What oil have you been using?how many miles is on it?

You might have a pushrod bent or a single rocker arm not getting oil .Before you spend all that money you should have the valve covers taken off and the rockers and pushrods inspected.

it sounds like a single tapping...i've been using 10w40, and it has about 128,000 miles on it...it started a few onths ago then it just got louder quick and now its just loud

i bet that noise can be adjusted out but without seing it i am uncertain. But a local shop should be able to at least try and adjust that tapping noise out of it before taking the entire engine apart. It would save you a ton of money

yeah i hope that can be done i don't wanna spend all that money..i put treatment in it to see if it would help and it made no difference....yeah i had seen that your a mechanic too bad u don't live closer....i really don't know any mechanics in my area

thats too bad no mechanics in your area. Here in okie city we have one on practically on every street corner..good luck and if they tell you its not an adjustable rocker arm tell them it is adjustable with a flat file.If you have been using pennzoil then you might simply have a clogged pushrod.I have to get to work now tho i have a alero to put an injector in so good luck.Perhaps changing your oil to 10w30 valvoline or quaker state would cure your problem but heck i dont know what brand oil you use.

I hope it isn't knocking. You can't reset your valve lash for that... Didn't the later sbc have problems with "piston slap"? Wasn't it a build up of carbon on the piston due to detonation, or something on those lines. Good luck with your car, hope it isn't serious!

Yeah, try to have the lifters adjusted. My buddy had a lifter ticking like crazy and the pushrod finally shot through the valve cover making a hell of a mess.

so that can end up happening to my car?

On the guy's car it happened to, I really think that something wasn't done right when he had the heads redone. When we pulled the valve cover off, the rocker arm was very loose and the pushrod had cleared the rocker arm and lodged about a half inch through the valve cover. I don't think this is something that happens very often as I've only seen it happen this one time, but I would try to have the rocker arms adjusted first.
This may sound ridiculous, but are all of your spark plugs tight? My wife's car had a horrible tapping sound from the head and a loss of power the other day. Turned out a spark plug had come loose. Just a thought.
