A replacement clutch kit for a DSM twin turbo (VR-4~R/T TT) cost $450. an change.... i was like totally shocked my jaw dropped at the parts store a i was like WOW! the kid was like everything is expensive for these cars just to let u know i was like oh i found that out when i had to replace the $45 thermostat which in most cars costs $5-$15
but instead of payin 450 for my clutch i bought a kit for 750. an change for ceramic racing clutch- i figured i am spending almost 500$ why not pop a few more an get a better clutch longer lasting clutch...
so ya your looking at about 450$ for a did it yourself job an a few hours of labor - took me 6 hours only because i didnt have acess to the car lift in the shop cause it was sunday so i did it in my stone coated driveway in 39 degree weather no rain thank god... just cold..

I haven't seen prices that high...buy from EBAY you won't be spending $500 on a clutch...unless you get a stage 3 clutch or something.

You could do it yourself...as I did mine myself without any experience beforehand...but you have to pay close attention to the directions in the clutch kit about greasing...use too much and your clutch is ruined within 5k miles, too little and you'll get squeaking. I have to give it another shot once it gets warm out.

450 is a whole lotta money! i got my clutch (oem--base 3000gt) from www.eclutchmaster.com. check out his site, he's got really really good prices. he's also got some racing clutch kits at very affordable prices. i got mine from him for $120, another 20 for shipping. but i got installed at a shop, which cost me a good bit. i'm sure self-installation isn't that hard tho (i just didn't have the time or means to do it myself.)

Linebckr49 - you are talking about fwd right? i am sure your right about that but i was talking about the price for the awd system... well either way he has the idea

ya my car is FWD. but if you go to the website, eclutchmaster sells an AWD clutch for the VR4 for just 240. its the oem clutch. however, he's got a racing clutch for $300 for the vr4, but its only a stage 1; i'd rather go with a stage 2 or something. a 6 puck disc is nice. so if unclemidget11 is looking for an oem replacement clutch, this guy offers a great deal. oh, and the 240 gets you the clutch kit, not simply the disc.

Beat me to it.:p

I just bought a RPS Maxx Street clutch from IPO for $390 shipped. It came with clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and clutch alignment tool. Its rated to hold 400ft lb torue so its got plenty of holding ability. I am doing my clutch change starting tommorow night. I should have the tranny out and on the ground in about an hour. If all goes well the cxar will be back together nd running in under 4 hours from start to finish.

One more thing when looking for a clutch if its for a daily drivers do NOT get a six puck. A six puxk used for daily driving wil burn up fast because they are not slippable like a full face.

And one last thing IPO actually bumped the price on that clutch to 410 shipped. Still a good price though.

Whoops youre right. I got the ACT Maxx Xtreme clutch I was thinking of and the RPS Maxx street clutch confused. I went ahead and went with the Xtreme Performance Street Disc Clutch Kit being Chris(IPO) recommended it for someones FWD TT thats gonna be making some nice power. I figure if its good enough for it it will be good enough for me. This is the one I got:) http://www.importpoweronline.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=330_343&products_id=1501
