Hello agian everybody!, Well!! as we are up here in Canada freezing our butts off, it is always nice to take solice in the fact that at least the LS seats will be warm to keep our @#$%'s warm!, until yesterday that is! after turning them on and driving for about five minutes I felt no warmth at all!, usually you have to shut them off because they do become very warm, now what I find odd is that both of the seats heaters are not functioning!, after checking the owners manual I find a fuse for the controls on the dash and a fuse for the heater modules! both of these fuses are OK!! so what is up? is there a relay? harness loose? codes in the computer? I know sometimes these heater coils can be a problem but both at once? and ideas or suggestions would be welcome, thanks all, best regards

Try changing the fuses anyway... I've had blade fuses fail and not show it.

I agree, both failing at once seems to point toward power supply or control. I don't have them, so I'm not at all familiar.

The only one I have ever had problems with is the Drivers side, twice the element has gone bad. I don't know if there is a relay but you could try checking the wiring harness', if you keep stuff on the floor you might have rolled over it and pulled on the harness.

Hey Chris & el es thanks for the reply's!, I went out and tried changing the two fuses to no avail, I then ventured to the local Ford store where I worked for 4 years, I talked with the electronics tech who is a friend of mine and he suggested we take a look in the tech manual for the 2000 LS, it showed a main fuse under the hood which is 15 amp, so when I returned home I did check it but it too is ok!, after that he thought we may have to do some wiring diagnosis to check for power at different points in the harness, he thinks it was strange that they both stopped working at the same time, he does work on the side at home for a lot less money so I may have to take it to him for some testing, one day they work!, then one day they don't!, frustrating when you are freezin' your @#$% off!.

It is odd that they both went at the smae time but it is a reasonably probable occurence. Unfortuneately I do not have the wiring diagram shop manual so i can't be of much help in that regards. I do have the shop manuals and will take a look at them tonight.

Did you get a chance to check the shop manual el es ? the underhood fuse is ok! but there must be a relay that shuts the heaters off! anybody have a diagram that shows which relay controls the heated seats? any help is appreciated, thanks

the only common requirement/resource they share is the key on engine running and the fuse. They appear absolutely independent of each other. Each has a module under the seat that controls the heating process.

There are several pages for the pinpoint test and they never presented a relay on the module and cable harness'

Hey el es!, thanks for the reply and your time on this, I have booked it in with my Tech friend for Tue night for diagnosis, at this time of year with spring coming (we hope!) I won't bother with a big cash outlay to repair them, but for next winter!! that is different!, maybe a nice set of seat covers would be in order!($50.00-$75.00!!), I will post a reply after I find out what the problem is, regards

If you are under 75k miles then ask the dealer for an after warranty adjustment it is a freebie repair.

Shop ebay for the manuals. There is a complete set there ruight now for 100 dollars. It is the OEM Vol I and Vol II plus the OEM Wiring diagram.

Well! I had the drivers seat tested and it seems the element in the bottom is cooked!, the element in the back of the seat cannot be tested until the rump portion is replaced, my tech friend can get me the part at cost and he can do the repair at his home shop for half the price!, so I may go for one seat now and the other closer to next winter to break up the costs!, have to get new rubber shortly and the old hot rod I have is chewing up the spare cash! ya'll now how it goes!
