1997 Grand Am GT Window

Hi... I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help with a window problem I'm Having. I have manual windows and the driver side seems to have come off its track. Now when I try and roll the window up or down the window gets all cockeyed. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right directions or give me the instructions to fix the window. I've never had the panels off and I haven't worked with the window before but had it fixed once by a garage. The window will still stay up if I manually pull it up and crank up the handle but any attempt to roll the window keeps it from working properly.

Well, you have to pull the door panel first. There's a few screws to remove around the door handle and armrest, and you have to pull the regulator handle. The handle is attched by a c-style clip, there is a tool to remove the clip, or you can us a thin rag to push it up. Then the panel simply pries off, there are several plastic retainers to pry out of the door frame, go slow and easy.

Lower window to full down position.
remove window run channel
raise window to halfway up
remove window retaining nuts

This is where I think your hassle is. On the track insinde the door panel, where the bottom of the window rests , should be two clips that hold the window in place on the track. These clips have a nut that holds the clip in place on the track, and the window base mounts on these clips above the clips. Chances are the clips have either loosened, which only means repositioning the window and tightening the clips back down, or that the clip/s may have broken, requiring replacement.
