i can hear a clicking noise from the front of my car when i am turning left and sometimes right and accelerating. has anyone any ideas to what this could be?

hi there well it cld be lots of things have u checked that the wheels are on and the bolts tight thats a common mistake!! if not that either the wheel bearings or a broken wishbone hope this helps. you could jack from on vehicle up and chock the rear of the car then start car up and get sum1 to turn wheel and u can hear where the noise is cumming from. hope this helps

The clicking noise heard on your vehicle is the outer c.v joints.These ALWAYS make this noise on turning if they are worn.
This is usually due to a lack of grease or the joint itself is worn.
The inner could also be worn if you can feel a vibration/rattle when steering under load.

so if i replace the drive shaft, would that fix it?

The c.v joints are the ends of the driveshaft,the wheel end is the outer joint-which will be making the noise.
Usually you can remove the joint only,but being an old peugeot you will have to remove the whole driveshaft and either replace it or get it reconditioned....being that the noise is on both sides i would remove both driveshafts.... :smile:

thanks very much for the help. i am clueless about cars. got one side of the drive shaft replaced today and the clicking is still there so the other side is getting replaced on monday. cheers mate.
