Just a recommendation to everyone, if you haven't seen this movie, you should definatly see it. If you have, see it again. Excellent movie. One thing I didn't understand.. wasn't Gabriel a man (In the bible)? Why in the movie is she/he a girl? Who exactly is Gabriel? What is her/his objective in the movie/bible?

Going to see it soon (perhaps catch the matinee tomorrow?) though the reviews I've read paint a picture of a movie heavy on style, but weak on substance. I'll make my own judgement on that one, I suppose.
As far as Gabriel (consults copy of "Angels A to Z"): Angels, while often being portrayed as male throughout history in art, literature, sculpture, movies, etc. (it's said that since the records seem to point to men as authors of much of the religious scripture, they logically portrayed angels in a familiar form -- as males) technically angels are for all intents and purposes androgynous, ideally possessing the best qualities of both male and female. Gabriel is an archangel who's name means "God is my strength." She is amongst the highest ranked of all angels, and one of only three angels actually given a name in the bible. Revered by Christians, Muslims, and Jews, Gabriel is considered the chief messenger of god, and the one who will come down to Earth to pass judgement at the end.

I noticed your avatar is from Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within. Do you own that game? How is it? I've been meaning to pick that one up for YEARS but I just haven't got around to it. I should get it before it becomes too tough to find :icon16:

Eh, it was alright. The trailer was far better than the actual film. Not enough hell.

I thought it was awesome. Yes, could have had more Hell in it, but still...very good job. I hated that they totally cut and pasted a scene from Blade though... :(

I've really wanted to see this for awhile but haven't had the chance to actually get to the theater. At this point should I wait for DVD?
