GSX/Tsi Awd. Stronger engine internals, capable of handling 450+ hp without replacing with stronger components.

It will cost you a lot of money to do the same to a GS.

Next question? :P

The gs has the 420 engine while the gsx has the 4g63 engine. The 4g63 is capible of 400hp on stock internals (i believe). the 420 engine requires more money to get as fast as a gsx. Of course the gsx will be more expensive but u will have awd which can launch pretty good. Its gonna be hard to find a gsx, if u want the same power and easy to get i recommend u get a gst IF u cannot find a gsx. The gst is the exact same thing but its a fwd.

get the gsx. turboing a gs costs much more then buying a stock turbo car and the mods on the stock turbo car will be MUCH more effective.
in case you didnt know
2G talon ESi/Eclipse rs base model FWD 2.0 NT no power options
2G gs FWD 2.0 NT some power options
2G Talon Tsi/Eclipse GS-T FWD 2.0 Turbo most options
2G Talon Tsi AWD/Eclipse GSX AWD 2.0 Turbo usually loaded with every option availible

wow glad i found this forum, quick responses. thanks a lot guys you solved my questions. Going with the GSX for sure. Now what year between 95-2000 would be my best bet on aftermarket parts?

not a 2000. 95-99 is all the same except for the body styles.

If you can, or have the money, try to go for a 98 talon or 99 eclipse. They seem to have lesser problems with, well you don't want to know about that.

95-99's all uses the same aftermarket parts. Just a matter of how much you want to spend. Only difference is the exhaust that I can think of at the moment, which would be different between the GS-T and GSX.

Glad you're going for the GSX though. AWD is a lot of fun. :iceslolan

My Eclipse GS came with a 4G63 same as the GSX just non turbo. im putting a turbo on it as soon as I can scoop up enough money to do so.

And that is wheel horsepower. 450hp is easily obtainable, as has been said on thie forum thousands of times.

And definately get the GSX/TSi AWD. I have a FWD and sometimes I really wish I had the AWD...Mostly because I have a lot of snow here in the winter and it would be a lot of fun. Other than that I really don't care, with a FWD it takes more skill to launch anyway :iceslolan

Definitely go with the GSX. IDK about anyone going over 450 with stock internals with a 4G63 but they're known to handle up to 400HP without a problem depending on how well you take care of your motor. A superior engine compaired to the 420A. As someone said, it's as expensive to turbocharge a GS as to just looking for a GST or GSX. Besides, the GSX comes with stronger internals, bigger TB and Intake.. etc. Besides, AWD is really hard to beat off the line. ;) The best move I ever made was buying my 91 TSI AWD. When you decide to upgrade your GSX the first thing is swapping that little blowdryer T25 turbo out for a 1G 14B. As for a 95-99 GSX, the older the better because I believe after 96 the polution laws became more severe and you have alot more leway in regard to upgrades and little things like gutting the converter & etc. lol (Yes I'm guilty of that) The only thing about the 95 is that smiley front bumper. I can't stand it. lol

Is that your orange 97 in your avatar bro? As for the TSI AWD automatic. God, I could never understand why they made the AWD with an automatic. Nothin like lettin that clutch off at 5,000RPM and just launching..
