What precautions should I take?

I'm getting my car back this week from having the head gaskets changed, and I need to know what precautions I should take with it. I think I read on here that I should take it easy on the car for a while. I know that I need to run it for a while, then change out the oil filter, and change the oil. Is there anything else I should do?

Is that all that was done was the headgaskets?? If so, than you've really got nothin to worry about.. If they dont change the oil after getting the engine re-assembled, than you should change it.. But I guess changing it again in a week or so couldnt hurt either
If the piston rings were changed than the engine could use a break-in period.. Try not to cruise at a steady speed, make small changes to speed and rpm.. so instead of driving 60, go 50-60-70-60-50 etc.. Dont use synthetic oil for about 2500miles..

I'm not sure what all they are going to do to the car yet. I know that they are going to change the head gaskets, and fix the heads if they are warped. I told the mechanic to check the engine, and tell me if anything is about to break down. They started on it today, so they should call me if the piston rings need replaced or anything like that.

Scratch that, my mechanic just called, and he said that I'll need a whole other engine. This sucks really bad, because someon tried to fix it before, but screwed it up, and now I have to get another engine. That is going to cost me 500, and about another 500 to get it switched out.

Yeah, whoever tried to fix it before I worked on it broke off the head bolts into the block. It's aready got 172XXX miles on it, and it's been run hard. I trust the mechanic enough, because he's friends with my mom's boyfriend. He's already taken off one of the heads, and the other one was the one with the head bolts broken off. He's not even going to charge me for the work he's did so far on it. He basically had all of that one side taken off, and he's not going to charge me. He was going to charge me 400 to change the head gaskets and fix the heads if they were warped, so now I'm just going to be broke for a couple of months and be in debt to my parents for the money I will have to borrow to fix it.
