Broken Sub

Alright I have 2 12 in Kicker L5's i have a hifonics brutus bx1500d. I have this alwired to 1ohm. One of my woofers was making a wierd noise i thought it was blown then i took it out of the box and looked at it and the yellow part at the end of the cone (dont know wut its called) was cracked. this has happened before with a 260watt rms amp b4. Y does this keep happening? am i pushing them too hard? Had it repaired by kicker b4 but y does this happen

Well im just making a wild geuss because of the shape of the woofer. if the Spyder (im asumeing that is what it is called) is also square it is happening simply because of poor designing. if it is actualy round (wow) then its just poor build quality. damn the only other company i know of that is having spyder problems is adire....

Even if it is the spider, and even if the spider is square, it's not happening because of a bad design, it's happening probably because he's overexcurting them. What kind of box are you using? And adire isn't having "spider problems"....where do you hear this stuff?

tons and tons of shiva's and tempests that are being shipped out have spyders that arent even attached to the basket. it is really pissing people off because not only did they have to wait months to get the driver because adire is so far on back order that now thye have to send it back to wait another month or so to get a new, hopefully fixed driver. please tell me this isnt the first you have herd of shivas and tempests with spyders detached.

First off the spiders aren't what comes detached on tempests (not shivas) It's the spider ring. And I've only heard of 2 cases.... one of which being a tempst that I installed and i called adire sent it back they repaired it THE DAY THEY GOT IT and send it right back..... talk about good customer service..... and the l5's spiders are round to the best of my knowledge there is no square spiders. Call kicker ask them how much to fix it.

ive heard of at least 5 on the tempest since adire had begun their move. only 2 on the shiva.

Where cu I at least lurk at almost every car audio forum I know of and have only came across 2 cases.

i have a sealed box within the L5's range of cu. ft and yes the spider (guess that's wut its called) is round. Last time i took it back to the authorized kicker dealer i bought it from and just paid the $20 sumthing for shipping

hlaf....maybe a fourth.... I wouldn't pay a dime over 300 for that kx1200.1 and for 300 I prolly still wouldn't get that.

i like JBL Crown amps...but they are just too damn expensive. 1200 for a GTi2200...hell no. 900 if i ebayed it...ill stick with hifonics,eD, cadence, Trutech, US amps etc....

Not necessarily...even tho with any product there is always a small percentage with defects.

In all honesty...it's most likely user abuse or product defect. See if kicker will take care of it for ya!
What enclosure was it in?
Also, IF the bx1500d was producing 1500rms ofr the pair (which i doubt it is) that's be too much power for the L5's in my opinion. Gotta watch on clipping, and over excursion. BUT, this type of thing...has happened to other drivers as well...

I thought HiFonics has accurate ratings on there amps. It's not clipping the gain is down. Well i proplly am abusing them kickers but I'll fix em and sell em. Upgrading to a w7 or sumthing on that level. The box was sealed.

Hifonics is a little overrated. But they do put out good amounts of solid reliable power that's pretty clean. In an average car the bx1500d will do about 1300-1400 watts.

hmmm, what is it rated at and what will you see in your car.... oh thats right around 14.4v...
I've seen almost 1200 with 14.4 from a BX1500 with minimal clipping. but 1300? i dunno. with moderate clipping maybe. im praying for a clean 1500 from a BX1800 with 14.4v. but we will have to wait and see.

Insurance sucks, gonna take a chunk out of my XXX funds next month. and im not even driving yet.

if im right someone got a bx1500d benched at 13.8 and it did like 1290 or sumthin. Bx1800's will do 1600ish at 13.8 the 1800 and 2200 are a little better then the lower bx lines..... if your runnin a stable 14.4 then you should be close to get rated.... ahh fuck it clip a lil bit!!
