Synchronizers?

Has anyone had any trouble with any gear in their manual transmission coming out of gear on it's own? 3rd gear just slips out of gear on it's own while I'm driving or getting ready to shift from 2nd into 3rd and the stick won't stay there in 3rd. It comes out, causing me to hold the gear stick in place most of the time. It doesn't always come out of gear...but 90% of the time it does. I was told by someone that it was my synchronizers. If this is the case....does anyone know how long a Hyundai Dealer will warranty their work? Because my 3rd shift synchronizers were supposed to be brand new - I had them replaced while my car was still under warranty. Any comments/suggestions? I wonder if I should call Hyundai Consumer Affairs and tell them that I might've gotten ripped off? Could someone please provide me with feedback before I take this thing in? Thanks!

mine comes out of thrid real easy never came out on its own though
you might have some chipped/ground down teeth on that gear and the gears dont mesh tight and under acclertaion the torque will pop it out of gear. they might have gotten ground down when the synchro's went bad the first time

BigTDawg> Yeah...that could be something to look at, too. I just know that the first time I've had this problem looked at, I didn't grind up the gears and the synchro's in the first place. The previous owner or owners had to have done that. I had the Tib for about 1 month and finally got it looked at. I know how to drive a standard and for some strange reason it's doing it again. I just wonder if the dealership actually replaced those synchro's or just put some generic ones in or something? Not sure why it would be doing it again..... :uhoh: :sly:

yea you never know with a preowned car what was done to it it may not be a bad idea to take it to a tranny shop and have them look at it then depending on what they say take it to hyaundi and tell them what the deal is see how things go

Not sure....but what i'm tired of is that the Hyundai dealer won't even give me a "yes" or "no" if they warranty their work or not....it's aggrivating...and so now I have to take my car in and have it looked at just for the recall they're having and they acted like it was an inconvenience to them, too. It's really a bunch of crap...this is probably the last Hyundai I'll ever own if the pricks in service treat me like dirt.

Yeah, I have done that before. Just go there, raise your voice, not yelling though, and start waving around paper work like you know what your talking about, and they will provide top notch customer service. But also know that you will go on their shit list, so they may not be as detailed when inspecting your car. Their not loosing much, so they really dont care. Depends on the location I guess.

My guys are cool about recalls & they were stunned to see what I have done. The service mgr wanted to use my Tib for a day & give me a loaner, just so he could have some fun with it. I haven't had any problems so far, (22,000 mi). But I have to be realistic. After all I've done; intake, s/c, headers, catback, a/f computer-if I blew my motor could I really blame Hyundai?
