I know it isn't recent, but my dad bought a '65 Mustang brand new in high school. He then almost immediately had to buy a Chevy truck to tow it when it broke down every week. Hasn't bought a Ford since then, and never will. Plus, he works for GM now. Anyways, working at a dealership, I see a lot more horrow stories with Fords and Chryslers than I do with any other car line.

First, it was because the car was junk. Plus, how can a brand new car break down all the time because of the person. It was never modified in any way.

A brand new car can be driven like shit by a very ignorant and very wreckless driver. It can wear down the engine by Redlining it and missing shifts.... It's easy to screw up a car without modding it....
don't necessarly blame the car, blame the driver.
don't get me wrong, the car can be a lemon, but it's a bunch of garbage to hate an entire company because of one experiance that was negative in a car. If what you are trying to argue is true, then no one would drive anything. You will not ever find a car with NO problems EVER. That's why God made auto parts stores.

I put about 35k miles on my last car, 99 Ford Escort ZX2, in a period of just under a year and never had anything malfunction other than a change of tires. I took my parents' 98 Ford Taurus 18k miles in less than seven months, hitting the 100k mark, and only had to change the tires. IMO, Ford isnt half bad.

a friend ofmine's brother almost died because his explorer's tires blew out and burst into flames... that whole recall thing.. before it was recalled.... you knwo that who issue...
i think thats a reason to stay away from a company... their personal experience.. which happened once... but enough to keep em away from ford....

yes, i remember that recal, it wasn't ford's fault though, remember it was the manufacturer of the tire (bridgestone i believe) and even if you have one bad experiance you shouldn't rule out the engineers working night and day to improve each year's model.
i don't think it's a very accurate reason to blame an entire company on a factory recal on another brand tire. Just because you have one bad experiance doesn't mean you should tell others the entire company is bad. in my family we drove 3 fords, all of which lasted 14 years. No problems. I've heard of some bad chevy models, but if given a chevy i would drive it till the wheels fell off.
Fact is, your gonna have some problems with a car no matter what brand it is. There is NO Such thing as a perfect car or a perfect company. Subway will make you a shitty sammach once or twice, and mcdonalds will mix up your order a few times, but do you say that mcdonalds and subway are horrible companies?

it was firestone, there wilderness AT tires I think.
I love fords. I come from a family that worked at ford, and bought nothing but fords. we never had a problem with any ford product that we had.
i know that one bad apple can spoil the bunch, but it is also quite ignorant to say "ford sucks" or "chevy sucks" just because you had one bad bite. grow up and realize that if everyone had your same roblem, the company wouldnt exist.
Ford, Chevy... are part of the "big three" they wouldn't be around this long, or be as popular as they are, if they werent doing something right. its impossible to make sure everything is perfect or close too. there will always be imperfections on anything that is mass produced.
