Monsoon System

I went to buy a new CD player to replace the stock one in a 1998 Camaro RS. I bought a pioneer 7700. After I bought it and went to have it installed at Best Buy the guy told me that they would have to re-wire everything and itd cost an extra 200 for labor. He said that this was becasue of the Monsoon system and that if i didnt rewire everything the sound would be awful. Has anyone put in an aftermarket CD player and have the whole audio system rewired?? and if you put the player in and didnt rewire the system was the sound quality really that poor? Im looking for any input or advice on this situtation. Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum and you have many options on things to do. You could buy a adapter that allows you to attach a regualr head unit to monsoon speakers. Sold at www.crutchfield.com (http://www.crutchfield.com/) and I am sure its on ebay. You can buy a aftermarket monsoon system head unit, Some companys like Pioneer and Jensen make them. Also you could change the speaker and the head unit. Good Luck.
