So as many Californian's are aware, we aren't used to seeing this kind of rain....
So Friday I'm headed home exit the Freeway and see a large puddle at the bottom of the offramp....I'm screwed....
I role through and engine dies....I'm stuck.... end up getting pushed out and towed home...well Hydrolock?
B18C1 Motor.....
So far pulled my plugs cleaned them, pushed the water out of the cylinders by clicking the ignition...drained the water out of the throttlebody and removed the CAI.
Should I try to start the car? I'm scared to do anything further at this point..... if the cylinders moved to push out the water I should be fine, no?
Any input from techies would be great.....

Change your oil and then see if the car will start, but only after you know for sure that you have all the water out of the engine. I am guessing that it won't run, most of the time you bend a rod, break ring lands etc. Water does not compress near as well as air. But try it and see, you have nothing to loose really.

I agree completely

if you saw the puddle and knew it was deep, you should have rolled through it with the engine off.

i should've just stopped and called a tow truck on the offramp...but I didn't think the gutter water was that deep, I tried to coast through it, however needed my steering so off wasn't really an option.....
so I'm about to compression test to see if I'm feeling any better about attempting the start up.....
I'll keep you posted...

so sadness sets in....2k after my swap and i'm fully hydrolocked....
cannot get the crank to turn by hand, I'm puzzled how would the pistons throw push water out of the top if my crank won't turn? maybe I'm just too weak to turn it with a rachet?
so my plans from here, starting tomorrow i pull off the head and take a peak inside......
:banghead: :banghead: so i learned an expensive lesson

after you pushed the water out i'm assuming you didn't spray WD-40 or something of that sort into your cylanders to lubricate it? sooo i'm guessing the reason it won't crank now is because its rusted up.

:disappoin I'll send a prayer out to your dearly departed - almost had the same issue but got lucky and managed to fix it: so I hope this helps, if you didn't already know:
when you get around to it again, invest the extra 50 bucks in an intake bypass valve.. ...it's made specifically to keep your car from hydrolocking by keeping the water out because you never know
good luck
