That's not stock, that's some crap wiriing job that the previous owner used for something... Trace it back... If you find out what it's for, tap it in to a better place for power...

Yes, unplug it, trace it and if necessary, hook it up right.

Was you're blazer owned by any type of law enforcement agency?
I got mine from the Florida Wildlife Commission. It has the exact same pattern holes on both sides of the center console. It also has a wire piggybacked (just like yours) that goes to a big ass reading light on the headliner.

you just have to trace the wires and see what they are for. If it isn't connected to anything or something you don't want just unhook it. If it is something you want to keep, you should think about wiring it better.

Ryan, at this point you know that's not a stock wire, it was some sort of an add on. Why don't you trace it?
Doing something like that for power is dangerous in the long run.

Trace the wire or my vehicles history? what could it be that is plugged into the 4x4?

THE WIRE! Ryan, it could be a million different things, it may even be a dead wire. All they did was use that fuse for power (again not a good idea) Simply trace the wire.

Just because it is plugged in the 4wd fuse doesn't mean it has anything to do with the 4wd. They probably used that one because it rarely has a load on it.

All I did was clarify what rlith said.
There are a lot better ways of connecting power. The piggyback method usually doesn't get a real good connection:
This causes heat in the fuse box and could damage it.
This could also keep the monitors from getting the power they need to operate properly, which would damage them too.

You still need to trace that wire and make sure it isn't going to cause you any problems. If it dead ends it needs to be removed from the fuse box.

Ryan, pay attention to what was said. It's not a good idea to run things this way... Tap into a normal acc power wire and use an inline fuse... Doing it to the fusebox can cause problems.

Insted of my paying for the monitor to be put into the sun visor is it something i could do?

No, just use scotch locks with an inline fuse to an accessory wire to tap power

ok thank you. I have to wait till the weather gets lnicer we got 6 inches or more of snow today to cold to take the dash out and trace the wire.
