what model car do you have? turbo? AWD? FWD? what year? 1.8 liter or 2.0 liter? im assuming you have a eclipse/talon/laser

do you want a new tranny or a used one? a new one will definately be more then 1000

If you have a 2.0L non-turbo (4g63NA) then I would recommend a tranny from a 4g67. They seem to have better gear ratio's for acceleration, and are a direct bolt on to a 4g63 (Using original shifter linkage from old tranny and clutch). The transmission from a 4g67 is significantly cheaper then one outta a DSM. I paid $500can for a used one after my 4th gear sprocket shattered causing the wheel to lock (At slow speeds, for reasons unknown). Much cheaper then $1200can for a used 4g63 one that I was getting quoted at. Allthough the 4g67 tranny gear ratio's are inpractical for a turbo application.

Shouldnt that be a clutch problem? If u have a hard time shifting from 1st-2nd then wouldnt a new clutch fix that? im also having problems but in all gears.

If it's specific gears that grind then it's a synchro problem. If the problem is with all gears then it's usualy a clutch problem, unless you have all synchro's striped which is highly unlikely.
