timing question

I was told that if the timing marks on a DOHC are all aligned that that the motor has to be in time.
I asked if it was possible that the timing could still be out, and I was told that there was no way it could be out.
But I was under the impression that the ignition can be signaled on the wrong rotation of the crank. Or does the crank signal the plugs for every rotation of the crank.
I need verification on which is correct because I am having a no start on my 98 rodeo (v6 3.2L).

If I'm not mistaken, they trigger off the cam pulley, right? If they do, and the marks are all lined up, then it has to be right.

If it triggers off the crank, then all three have to be lined up. If the two cams are lined up, the crank can still be off. Are you sure the crank mark is lined up as well?

I doubt you jumped a tooth if everything still lines up, but the sensors could be malfunctioning. Is this a new install?

The firering order correct or no ignition ?
The Flywheel or Crank send the correct or no signal ?
The ECU working ?
The Fuel pump working ?
The spark plugs working?

If nobody remove or fixing the sensor, you need to check something very basic .....

If your marks are all lined up you are looking a the wrong thing. With a no start, start with the basics. Fuel Spark. it is usually the easy stuff unless your ecu was doing the magic smoke out.
