I went out driving last night and found a car that i though would be a fun challenge to race...so i did (haha im not a poser...i post after i win or lose) the car was a 92 or 91 eagle talon...gsx...for those of you who dont know what that is, its a AWD turbo...anywho...went down to the EMPTY street light and we lined up and he killed me off the line...1-1 1/2 car lengths ahead of me...(anyone with an SR knows about traction issues off the line) and then i shifted into 2nd gear and pulled on him...waited till i was next to him to shift into 3rd (so he could hear my BOV) and then just pulled hard on him...left him in the dust...i guess his car runs a 9.8 1/8 mile...which isnt bad by any means...but i killed him...

i have a buddy w/ a talon gsx they are sick off the line. he can do like 5grand launches w/o losing any traction. so good kill way to pull

anyone with an SR knows about traction issues off the line
Werd. I havent even had time to try and do a weak launch on mine and the open diff has already owned me.

yea he had his gsx revved to about 5 grand when he launched he pulled so hard off the line i thought he was gonna take me...not even a squeek from his tires...crazy...yea my open diff owns me too...sucks i'll have the kaaz 2 way in about a month or 2

well he wasn't that modded. casue i know of a few guys in first gen's with bolt on's running low 13's in the 1/4. but anyways nice kill.

no he was pretty much stock besides a straight through exhaust to a generic muffler and a air filter...so actually the only diff between his car and mine is that i have a intercooler...he has the greddy type-s coming to him this week...maybe i'll race him again when he gets the boost up a little

GSX? nice.. i've seen civics trying to take them on since they look so old but they end up taking the next cutoff to hide their sorry faces... lolz...

isnt the AWD turbo talon the TSI? i know DSM and everything the eclipse are the same so dont try to bitch at me for it.......
Hit_N_Run-player
02-21-2005, 01:59 AM
i wasnt trying to be an ass when i just said that, but i know some newb is gonna say "duh, they are the same, dont you know what DSM is? Hit_N_Run is just not JdM tyte yo!11!1!"
TatII
02-21-2005, 02:06 AM
all turbo talons are called TSi's. the only difference is the AWD vs. FWD. usually when they mention a TSi they would add FWD or AWD in the beginning. the non turbo ones are called ESi's.
Hit_N_Run-player
02-21-2005, 02:21 AM
oh, i thought the only turbo talon was the AWD Tsi, i never thought there was a FWD tsi. Even though there is a FWD turbo eclipse so this would make sense to also have a FWD turbo talon.
logik23
02-21-2005, 02:35 PM
So GSX is the turbo AWD Eclipse and TSi is the turbo AWD Talon...just thought I'd repeat it to make it clear for everyone and pretending I know 2 shits about DSMs...

nice, both of u on stock boost?
slideways...
02-21-2005, 04:16 PM
yes tat is correct about the DSMs
my buddy has one so i know at least what the official names are, as if it mattered anyways
nice win
i estimate you are running around mid 14s?
i think a relatively stock gsx/tsi will run 14.7-9

hmmm that makes me wonder what my buddies gsx runs...he has a greddy 16g, tial bov(i think, he had the hks but sold it to my second cousin) downpipe, and full exhaust, safc(dunno the specifics) haven't seen him in a while. Has stock intercooler though, its pretty fast though. Im sure ill see him once it's spring time...all the car guys come out then lol, its funny.

I raced a 95 Volvo 850 turbo sedan running 12psi on the highway the other night.I actually started to pull on him in 4th, but as soon as I shift into 5th he'd just start pullin on me.Thats why AT are best for drag racing;)
It was a good race and all i really have are poorboy mods;)
1989 240SX fb 5-speed
Ka24de swap
aiv, egr valve, and every single solenoid were removed along with every vacuum line except fpr
removed secondary butterflies
URAS motor mounts
SPLparts tranny mount
relocated battery
custom 3in short ram intake(takes place of battery)
dual S13 exhaust cams
stock exhaust with a leak somewhere
gutted cat
removed all sound deadning material
Mobil1 synthetic
The dual exhaust cams really changed the way the motor feels.it pulls pretty hard all the way to 6500rpm...

what year did u get the exhaust cams, a 1991?
ghostchild316

No,from '92 coupe parts car I had.My motor is a '92 also.
The whole myth of the '91 cams being the best is BS.ALL S13 cams are the best.

What did it do to take out all those solenoids and aiv and egr and stuff, any good come from it? any bad?
driftking777
02-22-2005, 09:33 PM
actually im guessing im running high 13's...i pulled HARD after i caught up with him....he only got me off the line in 1st gear..after that...it was over.

driftking...how do u like ur eibach sportlines...im tryin to find a suspension for my 240 and i can get eibach through my work for pretty cheap
driftking777
02-23-2005, 01:01 AM
depending on what you plan on doing with your car..if its just going to be daily driven...they seems to be pretty nice for that...not terribly harsh or anthing...with the 225/35 tires...ride seems to be comfortable. IMO...i drift with my eibachs...and they dont really help body roll at all...not stiff like coilovers by any means
D-Bo
02-23-2005, 01:15 AM
i get the overall impression that the eibachs are fine for daily drivers but like you said, not so much for drifting and mediochre for drag.. i'll have mine on in a month or two

I wasnt really gonna try to figure out which line hooked up where plus I hate them running all over the place anyways. All that shit was useless you can actually see a motor in that engine bay now LOL:lol:
It looks much cleaner and with all the A/C shit gone too,get this,I can actually get to my top bellhousing bolts no problem with a wrench. This kept me from having to drop the tranny during my swaps.
also tracking down vacuum leaks is 1,000,000+ times easier
The secondary butterflies are gonna be a restriction when I go turbo.
Meh,I like it better that way:boink:

You have to do any ECU work when you tore out all that?
Given the 206,000 miles and sickly condition of my engine, half of everything under my hood is probably dead or clogged anyway.

lol i feel ya on the clogged shit. my car didnt pass emissions cuz my egr was totally cloged. Clean that bastard out and bam passed with flying colors.

nope.No ECU work at all.But I do have the check engine light from hell!It never goes away. It's just code 32 anyways. No biggie.I need to get a resistor for it.
Oh and in my state there is no such thing as inspection and somg check.I guess thats one of the few things good about Kansas:P
