Hemi Hydro Finished
Scale-Master

The hull and trailer is the old Revell Hemi Hydro (re-released a few years back).
The engine is from the R/M Blue Max Mustang F/C, (also re-released a few years back), with a pair of Holleys from the R/M '69 Z/28.
The flamage was the reason I chose to built this, I've been experimenting with some new flame styles... Wanted something simple to showcase them. The decals are Scale-Master, of course....
Also added a cooling system, wiring, throttle linkage & plumbing, made a set of gauges and the air scoop and some other stuff.
The Cragars and Firestones are from the parts box, old AMT I think, Cragars maybe from the Meyers Manx. Still a few details on the trailer that will wait until a tow vehicle is ready for it... - Mark

That thing is mad cool! I love it. But with all the talk of the flames, you should tip it up on edge so we can see them better. Looks beautiful, though, completely beautiful.

Did you handpaint those flames or did you use several masks to airbrush them ?
Engine is cool too.

Thanks all.
The flames are decals I created. I did some freehand airbrushing of transparent colors after they were applied to enhance some of the tones too.
Weather out here has been nasty so a good side photo will have to wait, it really needs the sun to show up well... - Mark

I'm thinking a two-tone blue and white mid '60s Chevy Pick Up with a straight six and a set of Webers. But that's much later, the boat was just an exercise for the flames... - Mark

Beautiful hydro!
We have/had a hydro freak here in Sweden some years ago. One of his favorite tricks when he had a new passenger with him was to give part throttle and then pull it back again. When the boat sat down again he gave full throttle on the bounce resulting in a "wheelie" (pardon the expression) and took of with the nose high in the air. I now I crap my pants if somebody did that to me without further notice and yes, I want one to. Sorry for the OT text, but it's a fun story and I wanted to share it with you.
Cheers!

If it were real I wouldn't even go for a ride in it, way too nasty, if it were a car that'd be a different story, no fear of drowning on terra firma... - Mark

Oh yeah...........Now, that just ROCKS Mark........
Great build of an old kit. I've only ever seen a couple of these made, they run a poor second, a looooonnnnng way behind ya......
Motor looks wicked, as do the flames.
I'd step up to the plate for a ride,.........if I was a tad smaller...lol...
cheers
