94 laser keeps dying

I have a 94 plymouth laser I just recently started to drive again. I could not get it to start so I purchased a new battery. It drove Ok for about 2 days but i noticed that the power steering seemed to be going out. Then one night while waiting in line at a drive thru I my stereo shut off and the lights started to dim and it stalled out. I had to have some one jump me to get it to start. I made it about 4 blocks to my house and it did the same thing. On the way to my house I had the accelerator floored but the car was only going about 10 mph. Does anyone know what this might be? Thanks

I'm just taking a guess, but it may be the alternator.

sounds like your alternator took a shit on you. take it in and have it tested, if it's bad, replace it, if it's good, i don't know what to tell ya.

Before replacing the alternator, check the belt tension (You should not be able to twist it more than 90 degrees). Also the condition of the material on the belt itself. A poor belt can give similiar if not equal conditions of a bad alternator. I'm not saying that only your belt has gone bad, chances are it's your alternator, but it's always good to check the easier/cheaper fix first before replacing parts unnesessarily.
