New Engine

I have a 99' Honda Civic (Auto) ...I know my mom gave it to me for my birthday.But I was wondering if could buy a B18C (ITR) which comes with: Transmission(5spd), ECU, Alternator, Air Conditioning Power Steering Pump, Distributor,and Wiring Harness and drop it in. I wanted to know if I could convert the auto to a 5spd.

No problem ..but need the same engine model with 5speed gear box . ask the right person to design for you

Yea just need to find the right model Tranny for that engine. But you would need a clutch to replace the torque converter and probably a driveshaft and a new differential. Iam not sure if they would come with a tranny or not, but some how I doubt it. Probably cost you around $3,000 or more to get all the parts(without engine) and have it professionally done. Your looking at about $1,500 just for labor costs. My friend just got a new tranny in his car and it cost him $1000 just in labor costs and it is sad because he knows how to do it himself and had the equipment but he was just too lazy to do it himself. Have a weekend to kill, an engine lift, and someone who knows cars really well? Then you can do the work yourself and save $1,500 and gain experence in replacing an engine and new tranny and shift conversion.

My dad has a grage and everything I'd need. Him and I built a CJ-7 jeep, so we both know how to get an engine in and out. I'll have no problem with that. I could also go to a salvage or junk yard for those parts that didnt come with the new engine/tranny.

I heard something about making sure the auto tranny is set to P or something before you take it out or your key wont turn and you'll have to reconnect a wire and shift it back to park. Anyone know anything about that?

yea I heard that before somewhere too. I think it is so the tranny is disconnected from the engine so you can take the transaxle out without breaking the crankshaft off or even worse having the engine come with it.
