first time dont care that i lost

hello, i would like to tell you about my frist time. My car : 91 nissan sentra GXE four door, GA16DE, nothing done on the outside, but i have a ram air intake, and prosport racing muffler. i also have blue neons on the floor (you cant see the tubes just the glow) then i have 6.5 inch 150 watt speakers in the front doors, 4 inch 100 watt speakers in the rear deck, a cd player, and a 400 watt 10 inch sub with amp in the trunk. i am proud cuz i did all this to my car by myself (except the muffler) and i started it all when i was 14. I am know 16 by the way. Now i know what you are thinking RICE!!! but this car is perfect its driven EVERYDAY so good gas mileage is a must. and it is just perfect for going out with a bunch of friends. I never thought i would race anything or make this car amount to anything more than a neon beater. well one night while out with 3 of my friends. we are driving around when i see this beautiful read 2002 i am guessing firebird. he pulls up behind me on a one lane road which goes to a stop sign. then turn right on to a two lane. he goes flying past me on this two lane then comes to a stop sign and is just waiting there. so i am like oh here we go!! i pull up be side him and he just pulls a head like two inches and stopped. smiling over at me knowing he is about to smoke me. now remember i probly have about half the engine and four times the amount of people. but i had an advantage my 5spd manuel vs. his auto. he hits the gas so i do the same and i just flew past him his front bumper was at my back bumper. then second and i still dont see him gain on my. third and i can see his front wheel outside my window. fourth and it was like someone kicked him in the butt and he was GONE!!! so you probly give him the win but i had one of the best times of my life. later

lol, if it was in fact a firebird, he was just effing with you until he hit 3rd gear...good death nonetheless...weird that someone with that fast a car would wait for a sentra 4-door at a stopsign...

Actually the fact he's a auto and you had a manual isn't necessarily an advantage for you. Big V8's with automatics can actually accelerate FASTER than if they had manuals. It's only 4 cylinder's and probably 6 cyl's too that are faster with manuals.

2002 would be an LS1...LS1 automatics are several tenths slower than their 6 speed brethern. I can run with the automatics pretty even up to about 90mph. But yeah...he was no doubt playing with you.

well it depends on the car.. i kno the eclipse rs has a huge difference with tranny. like a sec. to 1 and half secs difference in the 1/4.
my car theres about 6/10ths of a difference.. and in my parents maxima there was about .4 sec difference.. and i kno for a fact even with a v8 standard trans. is better. i kno 2 people with gto's both the same yr and the manuel will beat the auto. not bad but still.

Ford Mustang Mach 1's have bad auto's. 13.8 in the 1/4 mile vs. Mach 1 man 13.2 in the 1/4 mile. BTW, the Mach auto is depowered for the auto and dont get the forged crankshaft and is missing 800 rpms of the engine redline. Ford was bs'in with there autos.

well mines an auto and runs about a 16 flat stock, the manuals run about a 15.8 stock. It all depends on the car i guess.

It may be possible that a 6spd LS1 is slightly faster than an auto one, but only when driven by someone who is really well acquianted with it and knows how to shift it really well. That excludes 99% of people. And even for that 1% expert shifters, there is still the likelihood they do a bad shift every once in a while. So I still maintain that an automatic Trans Am is faster from 0 to 60 than a manual one, or at the very least equal to it. This goes for all powerful V8 cars, unless they have unusually bad automatic transmissions.

Any form of stock automatic transmission has a higher drivetrain power loss than a manual.

The is no such thing as an automatic cobra. The cobra only comes with the six speed T-56. :) And a manual will always be faster stock than it's automatic brother due to less drivetrain power loss as nissanfanatic previously stated.

Hence the rolling of the eyes after the comment made. Thus I wouldn't ever assume there would be an auto Cobra. Just messing with the noob. L8...
