1. Keep your ass away from Public roads
2. Learn your cars cornering ability and characteristics in a secluded parking lot during non-business hours.
3. Join some AutoX events or find some local Drift events and get first hand experience.
4. Lighting?
5. Why do you need to take off your PS?

I dont see why people...want to take out the power steering? That seems like the most stupi idea ever unless...you are gonna be drag only...wtf? Leave the power steering on...Heres my pointers dont be an idiot and drift around the corner of your quik trip...dont do it on open streets...just mess around in empty parking lots...

i think he meant lightening the car via weight reduction. Yes, it will improve car's response. It'll be easier to do choku-dori as well.

and yes like wingsofwar said stay away from areas with traffic and tight turns. Some good places are corners with two to three lanes of One-way traffic late at night. There will never be oncoming and you will need the extra space to cover up for under/over-steering. You should only make an attempt after you've been driving your car for quite a while. Every car's handling capabilities are different as well as it's level of response, body stiffness, tire wear, etc...
