So, last night, my band Audioburn had our first gig.

We're a cover band (I play bass), so we played about 60 songs, played for 5 hours, and it went really really well. Thought I was going to puke at first, but once we loosened up, we rocked the club. Had a kickass turnout too, about 50-60 people who showed up specifically to see us play.

We do alot of newer rock songs... Incubus, Hoobastank, No Doubt, Seether, Fuel, Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer, Collective Soul, Shinedown, Lenny Kravitz, Blink 182, Better Than Ezra, etc. Plus some older tunes by the Beatles, Van Halen, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc.

Anyways, my fingers are fucking killing me, and we've got another 5 hour show tonight...

Cover bands play ALOT... we are basically contractually obligated to play from 9pm to 1:30am with four 15 minute breaks. Typically, original bands do one set, and then there's another band or two following them.

Yeah, we have a website, and there's about 6 mp3's on it that we recorded several months ago... Needless to say, we've improved quite a bit since then, so they're not very indicative of what we sound like now, but here's the link anyhow:

Jesus 60 songs! My old band played a few gigs and i think the most songs we ever played was about 15. After those shows i was so freaking beat and my voice was so worn out i cant imagine playing 4x that many. Then again we played pretty hardcore music so that could have something to do with it. Bout to check out the mp3s but mad props in advance.

Yep, doug is pretty good on the kit, although he has some weird hang-ups. He's the oldes member in the band at forty-something, and he's kinda stuck in the 80's butt-rock mode... he has alot of trouble with bluesy groove type songs. Love that kit though! 13 cymbals, NOT including both sets of hi-hats. Fun as hell to play.

Just got home from the 2nd show. Was way way better than the first, despite the pain... We were way more loosened up, and we worked the crowd alot more. Much more in the groove.

Got paid at the end of the night, which kicks serious ass, and they've invited us back to play again very soon.

Well, gotta hit the sack, I'm draggin' ass, and my fingers would probably be bloody if it weren't for all the super-glue I coated them with... I'll post a few more pics tomorrow!
